Just retired November 8th!!! Moved to Blue Lake....still unpacking and doing a large remodel. Ready for the salt in early spring....salmon, rocks, halibut, albacore, 42 years free diving...ready for 42 more.
Anybody want to show me around Stone Lagoon? ANYTIME! I have a Hobie Outback and am a endurance fisherman. Also have a 19ft center consol Starcraft for the ocean. Catch and release for me in Stone Lagoon.
Been fishing the Mad a few times...want to fish all the rivers, but they may be blown out for a short while...I am also a Baja lover...40 trips in the last 42 years, always drive down and camp.
Ready for Stone Lagoon, please drop me a message, Ron

Blue Lake is great place to retire! Couple guys fish there several times a week.  There are beautiful trout to be had all over the lagoon.  I don’t really have any specific spots I fish when I’m there.   Good luck and see you otw.

I just tried fishing the Mad for the first time on my way back from Oregon. Didn't see or catch anything. Seemed like there are limited access points to the river. Stone lagoon looks like a kool place to fish. I always run past it on my way home from the Klamath or Smith.Maybe one of these times I should give it a go. Is it mostly rainbows in there?

You are allowed to keep the Cutthroat but not the Steelhead, trouble with that is they hybridize so it's hard to tell the difference. Even the DFG have a hard time! We just CPR and have a good time! We usually fish the perimeter in 5 to 12 feet of water using Lil Cleos and Spinners. Artificial lures and flies only, barbless hooks. We even change out the trebles on our spinners with Siwash single hooks, makes release that much easier. We usually hit Stone Lagoon 3-4 times a month, sometimes more if the weather cooperates. You're from Fortuna and going to Stone Lagoon. Did you know Roger Harwood? He liked going to Stone Lagoon and Big Lagoon. He lived in Fortuna, but died in a car accident a couple of years ago. He was a good friend of mine since we were kids. He was always up for a fishing trip. We'd get together 4-5 times a year to reminisce and go fishing. I miss him.

That crash was quite a loss for the community. I have friends who unpired with Roger and all spoke very highly of him. I did not know him though I knew who he was because of my involvement in youth sports.

Sorry for your loss.
