I'm really still wanting to fight against salmon, but I've got a few nice packs of the pink in the freezer - no need to get too obsessed with being a killer!  That said, I will be considering getting back out after a salmon in the coming days, but I'm ready for a change too.  The wind and waves aren't ideal heading into the weekend, but tomorrow's minus tide has me looking at doing a Roleez trip down the beach in search of inshore old growth cabezon and maybe a fatty greenling or perch.  Anyone up for a beach adventure in the breeze?

CAPE MENDOCINO TO PT ARENA OUT 10 NM- 900 AM PDT FRI JUL 6 2012  ...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING...  .SAT...NW WIND 10 TO 20 KT. COMBINED SEAS 6 TO 8 FT WITH A DOMINANT PERIOD OF 8 SECONDS.

I would leave Loleta at 5AM, be rolling on sand by 6ish, fishing by 7ish, rolling back toward the truck by 11ish, landing back in Loleta just after noon.  Fishing technique would entail anchoring in about 10' soaking bits of herring, squid, ab gut, shrimp and maybe crab back.  I'm hitting a spot I've known well for many years and used to produce crazy catches - biggest cabezon I've ever seen, lings to 31" from the rocks, fat greenies and grassies....etc., but the live-fisher guys went through there around 8 years ago and it's not been quite the same since.   :smt009  It's still good though, and the hike and process of kayaking on a small "bay" in the wilderness is vital to the psyche and needed for my headspace.   :smt001

What about Trinidad on Sunday? Conditions don't look too bad.

Forecast is up to 15 to 25 tomorrow south of the Cape - I'm totally undecided about what to do.  I should probably just take a break for a while and let the salmon fatten up for later this month and into August.

Trinidad isn't out of the question for Sunday, Pete, but I won't know until tomorrow evening.

Sounds like Pete's hitting the Cove tomorrow.  That's my favorite place, so I'll be trying to get a pass for that.

Good luck Eric!  I wish I could join you, but have to head back over to the hot, brown, and dry valley.......yuck.  The cove sounds much better.  You definately have the salmon mojo working!

Thanks, Matt.   :smt001

I got mama to let me go.  Leaving LOL at 430 - launch just after 6 - leave the Cove at noon - meet the fam at the South Fork for swimming at 1PM.  Hopefully Pine Mountain Pete and I get into some big kings.   :smt007
