We lucked out and got some nice weather for a change! Wind was howling in the early afternoon but died down eventually. Needless to say, we got enough windows of opportunity to fish away. Got my share of "catching" over the weekend. Caught and released some 13 to 15 inch LMB casting a sebile magic swimmer along the weed line. Also finally caught and released my first top water lure (weedless frog) LMB right in the thick of the weed bed!  :kick
Got really excited about the top water action that I stuck with the frog. Right before sunset, I was casting the frog at a fishy spot....I must have made 20 casts at the same lane and finally got a HE-UGE LMB to bust out of the weed bed and break my line and take the one and only weedless lure I had  :smt013. Chad witnessed the ordeal and estimated the bass to be easily over 5 pounds. I was heartbroken but at the same time really into the "froggin" thing! Can't wait to go out and do it all over again!

Also caught 2 catfish from the shore using frozen chovies. One was donated for dinner and the other was released to fight another day.

THANK YOU to all that showed up! Really happy to have spent the weekend with a brave group of kayak anglers!

Here's Ben getting ready to fish and my lucky frog lure...that I eventually lost to a big one!

Sorry you lost your best friend "Frogy"  :smt003  Hopefully someone here will catch that fish and return your Froggy to you.  Glad that you're yak fishing again.  Thanks for the report and pictures Mooch.

Mooch,

Glad you caught a lot of bass, and frog fishing has to be one of the best ways to get em. Were you using braided line? Wished I could have made it.

Bummer on the lost froggie, but it made for a great story!  Sounds like a great time.  Nice one.   :smt001

Joel, if you had been reeling the frog in with your right hand it never would have broken off.
Glad you into them.

Joel, I'm so happy to read that you got some good therapeutic time at Del Valle my brother :D

I haven't taken my yak on FW, but looking to do so when rockfishing season ends. Miss catching lmb on topwater! I wish that bucketmouth didn't break you, but must have been awesome to witness that slam :)

Thanks for sharing brother Mooch, hope to see you soon :D
