Title: Does anybody have experience with Adventure Sports in Sacramento?
Post by: sandsquirt on January 18, 2013, 06:35:44 PM
Hello Guys, does anybody have experience with Adventure Sports in Sacramento? I'm up in Portland and have my heart set on a Native Mariner Propel 12.5. Nobody sells them up here. I'm interested in what customer service is like in case a problem pops up. Also, has anybody ever have them ship a kayak? Were you happy with the process?
Thanks Eric

Yes I do. Got two KAYAKS from them. Customer service is excellant. I talked to John, who was the go to guy there and got an NCKA  discount. WOULD RECOMMEND THEM ALL DAY LONG.

I didn't have any problems at all.

My brother got his kayak from them. Great customer service and great price too! When the kayak showed up with a dent from the shipping company, John drove a new one all the way down to Campbell to replace it. Highly recommended!

Explain please Joe. I'm unaware of this and am in the market for a new kayak in April.

Hahahahah Rich dude. Real rich. Luvin them batteries though. :smt006 :smt003 I complained to someone that Joe went to Adventure after I loaned him my T-15 for two days and then he bought at Adventure to save a hun over Claveys price. Thats what hes talking about Matt. But the free paella was good I bet. We both live in Petaluma and Ive always been a fan of buying local if you can. End threadjack. Sorry.

I will say that Adventure Sports has been in the business for a couple decades and shipped hundreds of kayaks all over the US. I'm sure they would take good care of you.

Dan and his crew are the best. Lodi isn't that far and they really represent our sport and fundraising efforts. They also have a great social group that fishes all over Northern California. Headwaters gets my Vote!!!!

I bought my t13 from adventure sports and they were great, really great! But... When was the last time they put on a clinic or sponsored a tourney... If  I was gonna do it again I'd  buy from headwaters. They really support our club and sport as well as their customers.

Thanks for the props guys, but lets not turn this into a who's who conversation. It doesn't not feel right to me. The guy asked for advice on if Adventure Sports is reputable and reliable for this transaction and I think he got his answer.

Wow,
We know Dan is cool and supports ncka, but the question was about another vender......
If we only shop places that support ncka, why is it that in the last month, I have herd over a dozen referrals for bps and not one for the only company that offers total free events and gives the most prizes.
HELL,
Maybe It's all a waste .........

Adventure Sports had something to do with the Wilderness Systems Ride that was a prize at Berryessa Salmon Slam last year.

I try normally not
To argue on here unless its about substance abuse(lol)

YakHopper, I'm guessing FW gets the majority of support from this forum. I know I go into my FW o. Folsom at least 6 times a month and am greeted with a smile from kat and everyone else who works there. An that is one of the main reasons I go. The prices, well, I'm not going to argue that point.

Happy to buy all my terminal tackle and lures and line and rods etc there.

But kayaks? Honestly, I'd rather support a kayak store. Just like I won't go into a Walmart to purchase a rod. It would be cheaper but that is where I spend my hard earned cash at FW. and will continue to do so.

Sorry sir, hope this is constructive and not argumentative. I totally support your brand.ive got the gear and receipts to prove that.  But for kayaks, well I personally believe that is for the kayak guys to make their living.

Sorry if I came accross a little sour,
I have been watching  more than posting recently and noticed a few things that have not sat well with me.
I hate to thread jack, so I will start a seperate post on that.

As for Adventure sports,
They have been around for a long time and have serviced their customers very well with very few real complaints ...... I would Highly recomend them.
As for Headwaters, They also earn an A+ for sales, service and support of NCKA.
I would seggest you help the buisness that is in your area or the closest that carries the brand you prefer.

I called all over Cali. They were willing to deal a bit. Just picked up an AI from the Oakley store. Guy spent plenty of time with me putting it together and explaining. Two thumbs up.

I had a long conversation with Carl from Adventure at the show.

Well... I did get my question answered. I came here to ask the question because I live in Portland Oregon and my local Native dealer stopped carrying The Native line. I found Adventure Sports on-line and assumed that they are  the closest/only dealer close too me. I have not even talked to them to see that they have what I want. I did find something that do like very much a company that is not pushy and is willing to help me out. I will contact them both and find the best deal for me and then support them.
Thanks for pointing out that I have more than one option

Any new opinions about Adventure Sports/Kayak City?

They have a 2011 T13 I'm interested-in (because it's OK yellow) but it's a bit over-priced and I'm not getting a deal nor a NCKA discount talking to them over the phone.

Found that disappointing since Sacramento is at minimum, a two day trip for me just to try to haggle.

Probably get a better deal buying from a member.  Scan classified section or post what you are looking for.

Thank you, Duane.  I have been scanning NCKA and NWKA classifieds for about a month and the boat hasn't popped-up.  A NWKA member suggested I call Adventure Sports/Kayak City and check what they have on-hand.

(I've also checked CL listings twice a day every day.  Those darned T13's were either sold before I started looking, or they're for 2017's and I don't want a 2017)

Thank you, Chopper.  I've been watching that CL advert for a while - it's bookmarked - while I keep searching for one in a brighter color.  It's not a bad deal, I'd just prefer to be seen more easily if I ever run into trouble in the Pacific.

I appreciate the link.
