Hey all, my name is Andrew, I just moved to Oakland from the Boston area and am looking to get into the fishing over here in the Bay area. I have primarily fished for largemouth and smallmouth bass in MA, but am open to whatever other species and types of fishing are popular around the area. I don't know much about what kind of fishing is best around here, particularly with kayaks, but am excited to learn. I'm hoping that becoming a part of this community can be a great way to get started.

Thanks for taking me in!

Welcome to California and NCKA Andrew  :smt006  You can get access to both fresh and salt water fishing from Oakland within less than an hour driving.

You're pretty close to Lake Chabot which is supposed to have pretty good fishing. I'm planning on hitting it up some time soon and always looking for other locals to share the fun, so let me know when you get your gear sorted.

Welcome!

Welcome aboard. I've been on about a year and found some great advice. Also you'll find guys on the beaches or out in the water are also on this board. People are super helpful. As someone else said there's way more than bass around. I mostly spear and ab dive but want to try for salmon and stripers too. Good luck, safe fishing/diving!
