Jim,
Nice to hear. Of course, in any event, no matter how bad the news, we'll keep our chins up and upper lips stiff and do the best we can with the hand we are dealt. I look at the weather patterns this year--all the freak storms--and I have ot think things are not trending positively for us. But the storm season isn't finished yet. As I speak, a storm seems ot be brewing agian over the Bay Area and Sierra. With fingers crossed for more precip...much more precip,
Yours,
Surfing Marmot

Saw a couple caught from Manresa area in December.  Two years ago my buddy caught and released dozens off Sanddollar Beach, Big Sur.

As of this week, there is still a slow but steady striper bite going on East of Santa Cruz, mostly schoolies.

ARe they spawning in the Salinas river?  No one really knows yet.....

I and some collaborators are putting together a grant proposal to look at such things as striped bass migrations to the ocean and possibly spawning in watersheds other than SF Bay.  My guess is that this is much more prevalent than is currently thought, and possibly fish are spawning in other places with/without success.  But the net result be an ecological loss to there system of origin.  This funding would come directly from the striped bass stamp money...which we all pay into.  If anyone has any additional questions or things that they think could/should be done to help with striped bass populations and fishing let me know, cause the proposal solicitation is really geared toward adding fishermen.

Ya well DFG hasn't spent the money in like 10 years, so they where about to be sued, and so the RFP.  I know I am a grant whore!

Jim

Bill;  maybe we take our weekend catch from Mendo and move them to Lexington.  Call it game fish conservation and we look like heroes.

I support Bill for president of the Lexington Chapter of the CSBA.  Not that he needs more work, but I have complete faith that he'll get er done.

Somebody must have caught some last week at Pacifica. The spot where they park on the north side of of the golf course had about 20 trucks saturday at sunrise. Linda Mar had them lined up too.
