Craftsmen's Corner / Archery Course Complete ~ 14 Targets
« on: February 02, 2023, 07:52:18 AM »
Since fishing has been a bust as of late I had a chance to finish my archery course.
Fourteen different shots in total. Longest is 80 yds. A few are very technical shots.
Angles on shots are set up so if there is a miss nothing will be affected.
Now that this is done I can start tying flies.

Wife bought a brand new Tacoma in 2021.
HATED IT!
It wanted to be a truck but can't do anything a real truck can do.
Talked her into getting rid of it and got a 2001 F250 7.3 diesel extended cab 4x4.
Tows the toy hauler with the RZR loaded inside no problem and overall gets just as good mileage as the Tacoma did.
Could not be happier.

LOL. Forgot I even posted this.
Sold the beast in July of 2021.
Decided to go in a different direction from there.
Discovered the Mammoth Lakes area and have been having a blast!

General Fishing Tips / Re: Bay halibut done for the year?
« on: August 29, 2022, 03:35:11 PM »
Fished the bar on Friday then moved into the bay due to no real action.
No action in the bay either.
Few sharks, few shorts. All on live bait.
Was in a nice 24' Parker so at least it was comfortable.

Soak it in white vinegar.

So that's what it's like to rough it.  :smt044 :smt044

No matter how fucked up things are do your very best to stay positive. That is by far the best medicine.
Do that and you got this.
You will be back in the saddle in no time.

Great work as always Ernest!  :headbang:

Mine is on my desktop.
Thanks for the tip about seeing the link in the replies.
That was a huge help.

Same here for a long time.

When in doubt reboot/restart your device. :smt006

Doesn't fix it.

Craftsmen's Corner / Re: Hole in hull. Worth Repairing?
« on: July 21, 2022, 04:00:32 PM »
I would not bother.
Not that it cannot be done, but guaranteed every time you are OTW and the tiniest thing doesn't seem right you will always be wondering, "Did the patch fail?"
For me it would be worth the peace of mind.
Also, my life is worth at least the cost of a new hull.
I am gettin' up there on the age scale so I would gladly pay not to have to swim to shore.
Bite the bullet and not have to cry about it later.

General Fishing Tips / Re: Floating net for kayak
« on: July 20, 2022, 10:23:39 AM »
My handle is also cut to kayak size.
A section of pool noodle is around the handle so I can easily get all of the net under water.
Skip to 3:06 in the vid to see what I mean.
After this outing I bought a much bigger net right when I got home.

Fresh water? Ocean? Size?
For the ocean I slip a section of pool noodle over the handle.
Lost it once and did not know.
Radio shout out for a net found floating at Shelter Cove and I got it back.

General Talk / Re: Downrigger install - port or starboard?
« on: July 14, 2022, 09:51:29 AM »
When I had my Adventure I installed Scotty Flush mounts at the front of the cockpit. The port side was for the DR, Starboard for  the FF. Gave me plenty of room on either side to get back in if needed.
