Went up to Tahoe last Sunday with the Kayaks on the roof and I knew it was going to rain and I was worried about the inspection, so goggled then called no problem I could stop at Meyers or get inspected at Cave rock since I was staying at Zephyr Cove. I also called the Resort and they said they have on site inspectors $10 vs free at the stations, both also told me that Kayaks are their biggest threat. Got to Meyers the station was closed drove to Cave Rock nobody there, called the number oh we don't do inspections in the rain OK can I launch "I guess it will be OK " I won't get cited ? "Probably not" WTF. Screw it went to the Resort Marina was closed found the Manager oh all my inspectors are off site WTF my cabin is right there with my kayaks on the deck "Oh no problem one of my guys will come by" It was raining pretty hard so we took off for Eagle Falls got back at 4:30 no notes nothing tried calling only got the check -in chick. Next morning saw the Manager so I asked what's up? Oh you are #28 right yep oh you should be OK WTF Will I get cited ? " probably not" WTF :smt013 So did I break the Law?

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Mike, I don't understand the thought of kayaks being the biggest threat. Take a fresh water cooled power boat ....it draws in water (possibly mud and or silt in shallow water at the launch ramp) into the engine and exhaust system. The motor "might" be rinsed but will never be dry and free of all possible hitchhikers. Some would think that the hot water created by the exhaust would kill the quagga but most boat motors (especially salt) run at really cool temps and all boats are pumping cold water especially when warming up at the launch. Hope you got out and caught some nice fish.

Cuz nobody would ever fish in the rain, right?   :smt011

I've had similar inspection runaround/time-wasting situations in the rain.  Sometimes they make it impossible to follow the rules.
