Picked up this X-13 on Saturday morning! Excited about my first "real" fishing kayak (even though it doesn't have any dedicated fishing equipment). I "grew out" of my Aquaterra Prism touring kayak a few weeks ago and passed it on to a younger and newer diver on Thursday. Owned a OK Tandem for maybe a week just to get a couple dives in, and sold that right before getting the new X-13. Very happy that I found something in not-blue. The white should age well I guess?

The massive front hatch is really what sold me on this series. Plenty of room for long fins and spearguns. Has anyone had problems with the seal in the front? It seems to me like it's designed a little loose.

It's going to take some time to get used to the rudder. I had a horrible weather helm on my Prism if I didn't get the weight distributed properly. I'm looking forward to not tiring out one arm in the wind!

Took it out for a first paddle today and loved it! Don't know if I'm a rudder kind of guy yet. I took the foot rests off of my previous kayak because my legs are too long to use them. Same issue with this kayak. I kept knocking my knees with the paddle and felt cramped. If having the rudder means keeping the footrests, the rudder may have to go.

Sweet. The x-13 is a paddlers boat. Very fun indeed.

Nice job! Gotta love the Malibu! Thanks for Dan at Headwaters just hooked me up with a new X-Factor. Can't wait to get it out on the blue! Dan really came through with a great deal and can't say enough. Having to spend 3000 on my truck to get fixed and finding out my X-factor had a crack in it from a road trip to Tahoe came at the right time.

How did you get the crack?

Yeah, let's see the crack, Doc.  I've got some cracks in my two X's...  I'll post a story about them later.  Short story for now:  riding a 14'4" boat in the back of a pickup bed can cause it, and having your Thule racks too close together due to your short bed with bad morphology can cause it over time too - especially if you have two X's and a T13 up there...

I've successfully braced and patched all the probs on mine and will post it up later on.  I think any make of boat is susceptible to this type of damage.

The crack came from the most extreme winds I have ever went through as a human. the family went up on Mothers Day weekend and the plan was to take the boys fishing on the kayak while Mom went out and relaxed. When shit changed when I got up there and it was snowing and winds were blowing. Never should have brought the kayak , we ended up going to Carson City where the winds from hell started. Driving through the pass was blowing so hard and on the way back on Sunday we came down through Kirkwood and that was some of the most intense winds I have ever driving through. No fishing at Caples, Silver lake and basically told me I should have never brought a kayak on Mothers Day weekend I didn't notice the crack until fishing at Shelter Cove but am positive the crack came from the intense winds that I drove through where was forced to clamp down the straps so hard that I believe the crack happened. I'll post a picture in the morning and will look into getting some welding done and see if I can fix it.
