For Sale / Re: FREE Traeger Smoker (electric)
« on: July 31, 2023, 02:37:54 PM »
I love my Traeger! I have the smallest one on wheels that they make. Ive had mine for about 10 years and going strong. The variety of hardwood pellets they offer is really nice for adjusting to whatever you’re smoking. The premium blend they sell at Costco has three types of wood and is a great value. Here’s a few pics of the herring I did this from this years run! So tasty🤙🏼

Fishing Tournaments and Events / Re: Albion open 2023

Sucks that they made it same day as MBK event. We set our date in 2022. Its stupid as it pulls kayakers from both events with shorter number. Wish they would have posted on NCKA or ANY OTHER platform.
Well said and thank you for mentioning this! I was tempted too mention it here, and also have shared my thoughts with Sean regarding this. There’s absolutely no reason for a conflict of dates for events in a year where there are less than a handful. In past years where there may have been close to a dozen, I could see how this might happen and was often worked out. It really just comes down to effective planning, coordination and communication to be successful. In this case that doesn’t seem to be prevalent nor exist. I would have attended both events as a long-time participant of both and in this case, like many, I will have to choose one over the other. It’s rather lame and could have easily been avoidable…

Safety First / Re: Get this Spyderco knife!
« on: July 17, 2023, 07:57:40 PM »
Great choice and a very solid dependable knife whether on land or sea! I’ve sold knives in the outdoor retail industry for the better part of the 25 years. I own and have used several Spyderco knives and have confidently carried the Atlantic salt with their H-1 steel as my backup tethered in my pfd pocket on the ocean for almost 10 years with no rust.

An avid knife junkie and lifelong collector, I could write several paragraphs discussing many of the brands, preferences, fixed blade versus folders, the variety of steel and blade shapes mentioned in this thread, but I’ll spare you unless anyone would like to discuss more.

My fixed blade I’ve run for years at the ready and secured on my pfd is the Benchmade 100s (discontinued) in a 50/50 plain-serrated edge also in the H-1 steel. My daily EDC’s (everyday carry) are the Benchmade mini-griptilian plain edge 440 stainless sheepsfoot blade by famous knife maker Mel Pardue, and also the Spyderco Centofante plain edge. I’ve always been a big believer in carrying high-end steel due to quality, workmanship, warranty and great customer service provided.
Tight-Lines, Mike

For Sale / Re: Hobie Adventure Island w/ Sail $2,200
« on: June 24, 2022, 08:15:14 PM »
I believe it’s a 2013-14.

The last 2 digits of the serial number are the year of manufacture (of the hull). My guess is 2011, due to the older style aka bars (which, btw, I personally think are better than the newer style aka bars, so that's not intended as a negative comment). In any case, it looks like a great deal.
Thanks for the insight and info-much appreciated!

For Sale / Re: Hobie Adventure Island w/ Sail $2,200
« on: June 24, 2022, 06:24:51 PM »
I might be interested, do you know what year it is?  Is it a converted Adventure?  The click-n-go mounts combined with the V1 crossbars have me confused.
I believe it’s a 2013-14. Everything is solid and in great shape. I have chronic back pain from a lumbar injury and it’s just become a little too much for me to deal with right now. It does have the click and go which are in great shape. I purchased it without a drive, upgraded to a V2 drive and then added the turbo fins. Please PM me or text for further discussion.
Thanks, Mike
