Please correct me if wrong. If using 2 hooks. Barbless when trolling. Circle hooks if mooching. When using 2 hooks, distance from bottom hook to top  of second hook. No more than 5 inches and hooks must be stationery and not sliding.

Alex

The 2 single barbless hook and single rod restriction only applies if you are north of point conception.

Furthermore, the 2 single barbless circle hook restriction for mooching only applies if you are between horsehead mountain and point conception.

I'll third that. Always ready for both. Besides, any time you want to take a break. Send down a mooching rig.

Yup. That's my strategy. I troll almost exclusively when I'm after salmon, but I always have a mooching rig ready to drop down while I rest my legs, eat lunch, whatever. So far this strategy has only yielded rockfish, but I'm sure it'll pay off big one of these days.

There's something about a spinning bait that just drives salmon nuts... Day in and day out, the spinning bait just out fishes everything else.
