Saw a bent pin on the transducer plug, bent it back and just broke off.  Now I'm kicking myself, since I'm about to head out for salmon tomorrow.

Any way to fix it?  Can I just replace the PWR plug?  Or am I buying a new FF?

It's a lowrance Elite-4.  If buying a new FF, thinking of just a Hook 4x or 5x.

Thoughts?

Kevin

That looks like power cable plugs in it. I'm sure your FF will still work since the big two pins are the power pin. Try plugging it in and see if you get any power.

A pin in my old transducer cable broke but it was the temperature pin so it still works out.

If the pin is indeed a power connection then sorry to say you have to get a new one or find a way to add a new pin (opening it up etc...)

It still powers up but I'm not getting speed and depth.  Speed stays 0.0 and depth is 60ft...??

If you have to replace it go with a 4 or 5, not the x units. The x units don't have GPS.

not sure on that model but on the lowrance 5, there are two plugs  ie one for power and one for transducer.

If its only one then yeah that kind of sucks.

You may be able to "band-aid" it but putting in a temporary pin until you get it permanently fixed. Find a piece of metal like a small brad nail or something with the same diameter of the pin, cut it to fit, and stick it in.

Might be good enough for your salmon trip tomorrow, but not a good long term solution.

Called lowrance and they offered to replace the head unit for a "fee".

Decided to go my own route instead since I have a little bit of soldering and electronics experience.
Cut open the Elite-4.  This was fun.  I spent an hour trying to open it without cutting at the seams.  No go.  Why?  It's plastic welded.  No wonder these units are completely sealed.  Managed to get it open and expose all the parts, circuit board, screen, and the pin I needed to remove.  Upon further inspection, I messed up big time.  I made some contact with my exacto knife on the circuit ribbon from the board to the screen.  Enough to break 6-7 circuits.  DAMMIT!  Was so close to getting this thing fixed.  I could replace the pin but I bet the screen won't turn on now.  Stupid me.  Well, at least I learned something new.

I love deconstructing something and seeing how things work. If u can solder some wires to the contact that paralleled to the one You cut on the board , could work...

I feel your pain. I did something like that and killed a GoPro...
Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away...

It appears you're in the market for a new FF.  Look at the new Hook2-4 before buying one.  IMHO the new horizontal screen format seems a lot smaller than the Elite-4 screen to my old eyes.
