Spur of the moment trip to shelter cove tomorrow 6/20 with a couple buddies looking for chrome. Planning on trolling apex on DR, or mooching some frozen herring. None of us have caught a salmon before, any advice is welcomed esp. fishing or launch  tips.

Great story, kid had a smile that told the story. Could tell he had a great time on the water. You might have created someone who enjoys the sport. Sure his memories will last a life time. Nice going. I was taught fishing is not always about the fish, but the experience.

Yesterday the bite was red hot.
Many limits of salmon, plenty of sole, a soupfin shark, and a Pac-Hali. The area in front of the hotel (bread & butter) was full of life. Mooching off the bottom in 50-70ft.
Today, the bite was early and only a few had success.
Even to RF were being stubborn.
Good luck

If you head north be sure to give the rocks a wide turn to the right.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan
