New to kayak fishing, but been fishing since a kid. On a vacation trip to SoCal last year on a party boat trip, saw a bunch of kayak fisherman (one landed a nice yellowtail). On a stopover at Cambria, I saw another bunch (likely one of you guys  :smt001). Wow, kayak fishing in the salt. I was hooked  :smt003

Few months later, after some demos and rentals and a lot of research, I was the owner of a new 2015 Hobie Outback. Been learning a lot about kayak fishing since then (a lot from the NCKA forums). Have a few trips under my belt out on the Sac river, but not on the salt yet. I'm a long ways to getting there. With the knowledge and help of the wonderful, wise bunch here, I hope to one day make it to the salt.

Welcome! Rockfish season will be here before you know it. Get in as much seat time as you can and don't forget to practice self rescue. Don't hesitate to peruse the hookups section and meet up with some folks. There are a ton of NCKA member in the Sacramento area, and fishing with friends is 1000% better. Heck, if you ever want to come down to the Bay Area hit me up and we can find some water.

Welcome. My boy and I just got the out outbacks last year. Great ride. Sac has a lot of options and this is a great place to learn!

Have you done the rudder and/or fin upgrade to your outback for salt use? Wondering if it would handle okay without the upgrades.
