I so wish we had healthy river and creek fisheries here.  I remember growing up watching the steelhead spawn up the san lorenzo.  If I could take my fly rod somewhere (river/creek) within an hour and toss dry flies to trout that would be epic.

  I remember stories told by my friend Jack growing up in Santa Cruz,  He's sit on the trestle over the opening of the San Lorenzo (just at south end of the board walk) and he wouldn't be able to count the hundreds of fish waiting for the water levels to be right so they could start upriver.  I guess now one would be lucky if they s\can spot one or two fish now.

I really wish salmon would have a fighting chance with the countless millions of dollars vested in just salmon alone.
