General Fishing Tips / Re: How many of you have 2-rod stamp?
« on: April 17, 2024, 02:54:05 PM »
I think I agree with you in a general sense. But I did use mine last weekend drifting a minnow around while also tossing lures. It proved useful in that sense. But, the $18 bucks or whatever you pay for it on an annual basis seems steep, at least for me, considering how seldom I use it.

Awesome John! Thanks for bringing the stoke!

Anyone wanna go target some Tarpon in the bay this weekend?  :smt044

I’m glad you like it! I thought putting a crappie in it was funny since you didn’t have one in your top 10 fish  :smt003

That is f**king priceless. Great job John!  :smt044

Having more than one division makes absolutely no sense when like 20 people participate overall. Let’s boost participation by making ONE AOTY more inclusive, and if it takes off then we can talk about fragmenting into categories in future years.

We saw one herring hunting in the bay a couple weekends ago.

Also, if you voted no in this poll, you better be playing this year or your vote doesn't count  :smt001

Devil's advocate here--what if some people don't want to disclose their disability status for the sake of what is really just a fun game amongst friends? When is that power really going to be make or break in terms of catching fish? Salmon trolling all day? I put in 10+ hour days on the Revo--Do batteries really run that long at 2MPH trolling? I just don't see it being a huge fish-catching advantage. Let 'em play. Lets not overcomplicate this by making two seperate games, or proof of disability, that will devalue the spirit of AOTY. Bet the 2024 winner does it by being an excellent fisherman, not by having a motor.

CA Regulations / Re: Halibut changes… permanent?
« on: December 06, 2023, 07:19:16 PM »
Here are my thoughts…

I think halibut should require a report card and tags. Limit to 1 a week with 10 tags per year.

Barbless single hook with artificial only.

That way there will be halibut left for people who have limited fishing opportunities.

And 10 per year is plenty of meat!

Are you still with me? I do love a good winter thread  :smt044

 :happy1:

Ooo edgy!! Between Brie (Da General) and I we keep probably 15-20 Hali per year and its more than enough for the two of us, our neighbors, and friends. Still some in the freezer if I recall. Barbless single though... and no bait... that would be a tough pill to swallow. But given that shakers love a good deepthroated chovie, sometimes resulting in a gut-hooked treble, it isn't the worst idea.

Fishing Tournaments and Events / Re: ALBION OPEN 2023 IS CANCELED

I was able to cancel my reservation via the original reservation confirmation link sent to my email and it was very easy. They did keep $65 (first night's fee) of my original amount paid.

I like that, of all this madness, drones are allowed if under 1:12 scale
