Sunday 9-23 found more than fish

Paddled Slab Creek Res with some friends in the afternoon. Three of us paddled from the dam to the forebay rd bridge while two friends fished(caught nothing). On our way back my friend's wife told us she had heard some screams for help. Evidently a lady had driven off the road above the lake and had been wandering on the hillside for three days. My friend's wife paddled to get a cell signal and called for the CHP/Rescue copter. One us old men were going to scramble up the cliff to where the lady was calling from when luckily some rastafarian looking kid on a jet ski appears out of nowhere and climbs up to her. Thank God I didn't have to do the climb or they would have had to get another helicopter to rescue me. Anyway we all stayed on the lake and pointed for the helicopter to the point on the hill where the white Bob Marley was waving a life vest for the pilot who couldn't see him through the thick trees.After about thirty minutes of looking the CHP finally spotted them and called for fire fighters who hiked down from above and then chainsawed an opening for the cable to be lowered. The lady was hoisted up and away to some local hospital and we all paddled back to our cars in the dark. Kind of an exciting afternoon for not catching any fish. Good job CHP, Fire fighters, Bob Marley and Kayak anglers!!!   I have some video of the evacuation to post only I will have to work on sending that from my phone.
