Natural Bridges

I actually have never launched from Natural Bridges...maybe I should only post the places where I've actually launched - I guess I only assumed it was OK to launch there because others in this board have (like Josh and Art). I'm hoping they can chime in and give us some more info.

Fishing has been OK so far - my latest adventure was at Monterey and it was nice to finally pull in a legal halibut on the yak (my second one ever)- I'll be visiting this area more often - the swells are usually never a factor - the weather is a lot better than HMB and there are more bikinis  prancing around the beach front:smt007

How much are they charging people for guide service?

You'll have to ask Allen B. / scallen about that OR call Monterey Bay Kayaks - since they organized the trip. (they - MBK - supply the yaks,PFD,paddle and wetsuit and Allen provides a small tackle box of rockfish tackle, a few rods - to those who need 'em...and before he takes 'em out, a lecture on safety and fishing tips)

I just spent the last couple of seasons testing the limits of sot's in pretty diverse conditions and I think their range and capabilities are pretty underrated.

I'm curious - what kayak do you paddle?

I have never been bother the 5 or 6 times I have launched out of there. I did almost crush a little kid coming my first year kayakfishing. I tried to avoid him. 4 -5' surf. He kept running right to where i was going to land, sad part is that his parents were encouraging him. It was a narrow miss as I wasn't that good at surfing in yet. he did drag my kayak across the beach though.

I got crushed in the surf at natural bridges, I didn't appreciate the 80 yard commute over sand either.  The launch from the harbor is close enough to get out there within a reasonable paddle (or from the pier).

Yeah, I agree with promethean. The couple of times I've fished the Nat Bridges area I have launched from the harbor & paddled up coast. I think it took about 30-45 minutes or so the last time I did it. It's only about 4 miles, and is a nice paddle if you beat the wind.

The skiffs hit that area pretty hard too.  I'm less that impressed w/ the fishing around santa cruz except when halibut or salmon are about, which hasn't happened in a big way in several years.

Mooch sorry we never hooked up for the HMB offshore run but maybe I'll see you out there sometime. Looks like this year's about over for salmon, slim possibility of 1 or 2 runs up to Dux for me then it's high and dry til next year.

no worries - I'm hoping to paddle more during the off season just so I can get in "paddle shape" - so I can keep up with you   I did recall seeing you at Surfers Beach at HMB one day after work. I was driving towards the HMB Harbor to test my rod floatation device and I saw a ton of birds working about 50 yards past the surfer's line up - you were driving a station wagon type of vehicle and I remember seeing a Wilderness System kayak on top - you were just on your way out of the parking lot when I came in to check out the birds chasing bait.

Well, I'm looking forward to fishing with you on the next salmon run - let's just hope it will be a better year  

Heard any word of fish offshore from HMB/LM/Pacifica? I know it's late but you never know especially the way the year's gone so far. I might do an outside run there some morning just for the hell of it.

I've been driving around the coast after work - trying to get reports by the HMB docks all the way to the Pacifica Pier....all I hear are a few stripers being caught by the surf fishermen North of the Pacifica Pier...the boaters seem to have given up on the salmon and are just targeting rockfish. I've checked out the trash bin at the HMB harbor - by the cleaning station and all I see are rockfish. The Pacifica Pier is sloooowww. The surf at Linda Mar has been too big - same goes to rockaway beach.
