Thanks everyone for your input and advice.

I just picked up a Penn 501 that is in great shape !!

Now on to research a good rod to mate this to .....

Curtis

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you get it for? I'm looking for a 501 as well.

Fish67 -

Found it on Craigslist for $40.00.  Seemed like a fair price and a good reel for kayak/rockfish/ling.

Can't wait to try it on my next outing

Uh-0h!

I am currently working on my vintage Penn Squidder 140. Today I was putting it back together and Zinnnng... the tiny spring for the anti reverse popped out and is hopelessly LOST  :smt013

Where can I get another (1/2 dozen)?

The best resource for Penn Parts that I have found.  Quick delivery, too.

www.scottsbt.com

Anyone who takes  reels apart should check out alantani.com  He has meticulous tutorials on multiple reels.  He is the master.  A number of his tutorials are posted on NCKA, he is a long-time member.

+1 pennparts.com and alantani site. There are some crazy talented guys and gals on there. Just a warning, it gets pretty addicting tricking out these old penns.

Very nice jigstrike!

I have some 501s and squidders. Some with Tiburon frames. I would swap maybe.

If anyone has this kind of stuff. I collect it. The one marked Hetzel with the prop on it I would give 400.00 or more. Hope you have that kind of jumble.

Will buy this kind of jumble also. If boxed and clean like this 300.00 +. Hey Bushy if you need a talk on show about this stuff let me know. Been doing it 30 years. Enjoy folks
