Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Delta report 9/16/06
« on: September 16, 2006, 02:54:43 PM »
I had a great day fishing the delta today. On the water at 8:15am, off at 12:30. Bite was good early then stopped later in the morning. Found a channel in a swampy area that the out going tide was flowing through. Thew my senko in there and caught more than a dozen dinky bass. The larger ones were caught at the edges of the veggie mats.

Only three other boats were near me. One was a big boat tied to a tree, one was bass fishing and the other cruised by very slow. Not one speeding boat.

Largest today was 20", 4lbs 9 oz. I was in my little sik and had a hard time getting a picture and a measurement.

I'll be here again tomorrow.

Well was just planning on fishing. Anything different I have to do for virtual tourney? Register?

If you're going to bass fish, you might want to do it for a good cause.

It's this Sunday and you can fish anywhere. Here's the details and link to register.

I'll be fishing the tourney somewhere on Sunday. Still not sure if it will be RS.
Have fun and good luck!

Al

I checked the NCKA photo gallery and the gallery displays the date/time the photo was taken from the EXIF information.

So if you load your images into the photo gallery, you should be covered in terms of date stamp issues.  IMO.

Nice! :smt004 :smt004  That works good enough for me. Thanks Erik.
Mooch...I'm a low-tech old guy and I got the flash thing figured out. :smt002

Got to post a disclaimer on the Correia Road ferry ramp reached going south from Highway 12 west of I-5: my canoe log notes it is there but I never drove that route to check parking on that side.

This looks like a real nice fishy area, but don't take the Hwy 12 route.

I took a drive to this location after work today. The road is a single lane along the levee that takes you to a dead end where the ramp must be located. Problem is the end of the road is fenced and posted with no access or view of the ramp. A braver person than I could launch off the rock levee.

I did notice the ramp on the other side as I was leaving and it looks like a good access. I'll take a drive there next week to confirm.

Thanks Brian. I'll check it out.

I did a google and usenet search and people say the WPi can't do it.
They claim to use the provided software to do the date stamp from the photo data.

I'm surprised no one else has tried considering all the Optios we have out here.

I might be there. You doing the virtual tourney or just fishing?

I've pushed all the buttons and I've tried to read most of the manual, but still I can't figure out how to turn on the picture date stamp.

Has anyone done this with their WPi?

I would rather not have to place my winning fish on a soggy Sunday paper.

Thanks, Al

I personally would like the name to be changed to "Norcal/Central Inland Waters".

I agree with RockCatcher....I mean Brian.

Great observation Don. Old ferry locations would make a nice ramp.

I was able to locate both of the locations you mentioned. White's Slough looks like a great fishy area and the ramps would make easy access.

The one on the channel looks close to a good group of islands including this one.
This ain't no delta meth shack!

Hogback Fishing Access is located on Grand Island Road along Steamboat Slough. This is a Sac county park that has self pay parking fees. Very nice ramp launches into a cove that has LMB potential. The cove then leads to Steamboat Slough for striper action.

Georgiana Slough Fishing Access is located a few miles south of Walnut Grove. Take Andrus Island Road south along Georgiana Slough.  This is a Sac county park, no fee...that's right..free access. I was surprised to see a nice parking lot and a mowed picnic area. Good looking slough with rock levees and lots of growth. According to my map the area a little farther south is good for stripers. It also looks like small mouth territory. There is a dock and an interesting ramp for small boats. The big boats can't launch here.

The boat ramp. Looks ok to me.

My wife tells me I have ugly hairy feet.

I'm paid and ready to fish!

I'm having second thoughts on where to go. Rancho...Delta...??? aarrrgggg....
Don't want to drive to Clear Lake, but I have a hunch it will produce the winning fish.

Any other Sacto or Valley people entered?

Whiskey Slough Marina is of course on Whiskey Slough. It's a funky little old marina with a good two lane ramp. According to the sign it's $8 to launch. I took a drive along the slough up to Twentyone Mile slough and Turner cut. There are some interesting tullies that could produce some bass. A few bass boats and jet skies on the water.

Here's the ramp. Check out the old boat in the back.

I stopped at two marinas on Bethal Island. First was Russo's Marina. Very nice facility directly across from Franks Tract. Good parking with a nice ramp. $10 launch fee. It was interesting to see over the levee into all that water in Franks. I can see why this is a popular location for the bass tournaments. I'll be back to try this place.

A little father down the road is Sugarbarge Marina. Looks like a nice restaurant or bar from the outside. Ramp fee is also $10. Don't think access to Franks is any better here than from Russo's.
