Butt Lake (Plumas County)

Heard about Butt Lake in Plumas County. Planning a trip at end of this month. Don’t know to much about this lake. Plan on staying in Almanor at one motels. All depends on weather, not concerned about coldness. All suggestions are appreciated . Thanks

If you want to cover water, troll the buoy line near the peninsula Bushy mentioned with rapalas (3-4” Black/silver) or speedy shiners (r/g or chart/silver). Bottom fishing crawlers or mealworms would give you a good chance. Jigging a full minnow in smelt pattern or a p line jig can work well too

I used to just look at the pics but I recently learned to read.

Man, I wish I had a Butt Lake nearby still!  Fall is an awesome time to fish up there.  Rip plugs, jig, mooch bait...it all works in the fall.  Just gotta cycle through the three methods to find out what the fish want for the day.  As long as your offering imitates a pond smelt, you should hook up.  I typically had a tough time on Almanor in November, as the fish transitioned from their "fall mode" to "winter mode".  Butt never really had that fall-off though, as a lot of the same places you'd crush fish on plugs would also be the same places you'd do deep-water jigging in the winter.

Thanks for the love David, I may not do as much lake fishing as I used to, but the fall coho run is about to begin up here.  It'd make for good reporting material.  Good chances for catching coho into the mid-teens in a lake  .
