Thanks Keeneroo,

I actually just got off the phone with Rebekah, she is super chill and.im totally going to take her 2 day class. Just have to pick a date....thinking of going 2 weekends from now [which is her next class]. Cant wait, hope the weather and viz are good!

I’m going to be later on the bus than 2 weeks  :smt009 so I won’t join you on that one, but I have joined the spearfishing forum and am trying to learn as much as I can from there before taking a class. I love the idea of a 2 day class, I’ll have to make a weekend of it and get a hotel down there. Thinking when it’s fishing season and I can get some rod and reel fishing in too while I’m there.
Rockfish and Lings are year round when spearing. I've been freediving for many years and have never taken a freediving class only a scuba course many years ago. Even with many years of freediving experience I feel like I need to take a class for the safety aspect of it. I've seen a lot of ridiculous things out there from new and veteran divers.

« on: January 18, 2020, 05:16:07 PM »
Hello All,

Due to a number of requests, I have decided to open a Late registration for Crabfest 2020. The registration and waiver can be found on the first post of this thread as an attachment. Registration and Waiver need to be post marked by 1/17/2020 and all checks need to be made out to Victor Woolworth. No day of registration available. Clothing orders not available with late registration, a small quantity of extra clothing has been ordered and will be available day of on a first come first serve basis.

Late registration proceeds will directly go to DYF, the beneficiary of this event.

Reminder, every registered participant will get a raffle ticket for the Crescent LiteTackle Kayak donated by Crescent Kayaks and Headwaters Kayak Shop.

Thank you again for all of those who pre-registered on time.

Haha, I saw this on the 18th. Too busy chasing herring. Maybe next year.

General Fishing Tips / Re: Is a 4ft Cast Net too small?
« on: January 18, 2020, 05:10:53 PM »
My daughter uses a 3ft radius net and loves it, but she is 13, 12 when she first used it last year:

Might want to try a light rod with sabiki rig, although you would have to cut half of the rig off to be legal in the bay and makes it more manageable for a younger kid.

Doran is where I crab and I check wind conditions before going, not swells. The launch area is very well protected from swells but if the winds are high they will blow you out from the launch. There seems to always be folks in kayaks when I go.
The crabbing at Doran has been very slow, but did pick up a little the last time I was there, last Monday. Did get a limit, but after 7 hours and a lot of moving around of the pots. With the recent storms I think the crabs were hunkered down and not on the craw. When I got there folks were pulling up empty pots after an overnight soak. I can't imagine fishing for rockfish on top of the crabbing, more work then I'm capable of.
If you do, or did go out, I'd like to know how it went.

Nice job. Every time I go to Bolinas the surf is too big and I end up not heading out and just playing in the Lagoon.

Any crab and/or surf perch reports from Doran lately???
Went there last Saturday and limited out by 11am, but there wasn't that many pots in the water.

Nice job. That wasn't the surf in the cove was it?

Looking forward to it. The crabbing there has picked up. Last two times got my limit early, but the size could have been bigger.

Fishing Tournaments and Events / Re: Doran Crabbin' - Slow or just me?

the whole area north of bodega and south of Jenner does well

That's a long paddle from Doran or a rough put in. Would love to try dropping pots there.
