Welcome Overloaded. Just an FYI this is a northern California based group so our reports and tactics will be different from what your doing out in WV.

I'm willing to bet what works here works there too and visa versa.

If you ever get up to Tahoe they got some great crawdads there. Big Signals from super clean water.

Great music synch with the video and that is one of the most bad ass diving photos I've ever seen.
You gotta be psyched for that!

Sorry you have to go through that.
Hope you have a speedy recovery and suffer no future ailments from it all.

General Talk / Worst Smelling Garbage Can EVER!!!!
« on: July 14, 2018, 09:52:40 AM »
So first week of garbage at the new house. New can, but it sits directly in the sun...for now.
We moved in July 23rd but the contractor finally left for good yesterday so still living with everything strewn about.
Wednesday is our garbage pick up day so it goes to the curb Tuesday.
I walk out to the patio to get the can and right above my head I hear a whoosh, whoosh, whoosh. Big wings from a  big bird; then another.
I look up and see about 7 buzzards circling real low right above the patio.
Hm, that's weird. Then I get a whiff from the direction of the garbage can. OMG!!! Was it BAD!
I guess the heat box baking all the trash really went off.
I took the can to the curb, which is 130 yards away and forgot about it.
Next day I get the can, no smell.
I put it back where it came from, walked away, and got another whiff of that awful smell.
So I put my sniffer to work and it took me up the hill directly above the cans.
Felt like a bloodhound, but I found it.
Not the can at all.
Not sure what got this little guy, but the deer haven't been around for a bit and they would graze in the yard as we sat on the deck.
Chadrock and I saw 2 deer bolt from the top of that hill down the side of our yard the day after I moved in. Wonder what made them bolt?
I am relieved to know it wasn't my garbage causing the gathering of buzzards.  :smt044

Never knew about a chamber sealer before this thread.
Here's a very interesting comparison:

Not sure what you are talking about?
I just press a button and it comes up on it's own.
Isn't this how we all do it?  :smt044 :smt044

General Talk / Re: ICAST 2018...Year of the Barge,
« on: July 11, 2018, 03:40:20 PM »
I think people are generally getting lazier and lazier as the years pass.
They don't want to put in the time or effort to learn a real skill.
How many actually practice getting back on, aka, self rescue?
I don't need to balance Bubba. Lookie, I can lay sideways in it!
I like the sleeker models much better. My Revo is as wide as I want to go.
I liked the Adventure better, it was just that the Revo fit better in the garage.
As far as standing; I can see how some people might like it, but if I want to stand I'll shore fish.

Hobie Kayaks / Re: New vessel and a parade of errors

I have a bungee attached to the drive and I have pad eyes on each side of the front hatch with a clips and a strap running between each.
Not only does it keep the hatch secure, I use it to slide my fins under when launching and landing in the surf.
If the surf is sketchy my FF and rods go inside the hull on both entry and exit. Much easier to find things that way in case you do a yard sale; unless of course you are made of money ten it doesn't matter.
I keep my battery and cables in a dry bag stashed inside the hull. Either clipped to a pad eye I installed or wedged between the side of the kayak and the yakgina.
I do wash the inside after a trip to the salt. Not so much after fresh water unless I stored fish inside.

Screen name: OmegaTCB
Real name: Thomas

Will add a pic later.

Tried kayak fishing about 10 years ago with college friend on Monterey Bay and Half Moon Bay.  Got pretty wet and had zero bites, but it was still one of my all time favorite fishing trips.  Not sure why I haven't tried it since.

Going to see if I can get my 12 and 13 year old boys interested.  Will look for a calm weekend, tandem rentals, and a good guide.

Contact Allen Bushnell, aka Bushy on the board. He's the man in your area.
