If you're just getting into kayak fishing and especially if you're new to the salt I highly recommend this class. It might save your life or the life of your friend.

CCK will be putting on another fishing kayak safety class on 8/20/2016 from 9am-4pm in HMB at Pillar Point Harbor. Follow the link for more info on the class.

it's a great class. I took this a while ago, and it's been invaluable.

Probably won't try saltwater for awhile but it is definitely on my list of things to try. Thanks for posting!

I guess I missed this.  Is there another one scheduled anytime soon?

Thanks

By now the above link is dead, but the CCK site still has kayak fishing classes up.  Do you recommend the surf zone class or the rescue clinic? Obviously both are optimal, but I'm thinking the rescue clinic takes priority for a noob.

Rescue first. On the class I took, there was also a brief intro to surf (one launch and landing--nice to get a feel for it in a guided environment), but yeah, the rescue stuff's more fundamental and is applicable to any water you might find yourself in.

Thanks NFV. They have no more rescue classes scheduled this season, but we are able to do a private lesson.
