Good Times in the forest today. First time out in 11 days due to heavy storms. Limited viz in one of my favorite creeks, but managed to spot a few spawning pairs and some great sparring between big male Chinook.
Steelhead season: coming on soon...

Until I can kayak fish again...

Great pics! I am inspired by the cycle in which the death of the salmon brings life to the land.
-
That one is still good for the smoker, right? lol
Beautiful pics Eric!

When alone I add constant wild animal awareness to my safety hypervigilance posture, and sometimes I carry bear spray. Whether alone or with others I carry my tripod and will heave it over my head like Thor's battleax if confronted by anything mean lookin'.
Always ready to "look big". :smt006

Wow, just wow! Outstanding pictures, thanks for posting.

Awesome pix & recon.

I don't always comment, but I ALWAYS enjoy these recon session reports. Thanks Eric! I spotted a few potadromous fishies above Folsom Lake this past wknd...it was a really cool sight.

Great shots Eric! I'm envious of those jumbo Eel River fall-run you have over there. The only salmon we have in our anadromous streams up here are little 8-15 pound springers, topping out around 20 pounds. It was one of the worst runs on record for us, hopefully you guys fare better.

Looks pretty up there. Love the videos of the spawners. I might be up there soon if I choose to go HSU looking forward to hikes and other stuff Humboldt has to offer, love that place so much

I came across this article about Coho in Marin. Things maybe looking much better if the rain keeps coming. http://www.marinij.com/environment-and-nature/20151227/marins-coho-salmon-run-off-to-very-busy-start-for-season

Awesome photos. Good sign seeing those spawners. With the rain this season we should have a great fall run in 2018-19

Thanks for the trip report and cool pictures Eric.

Sweet back yard you have there Bro!!!! :smt001

Wow that close up of the dead bucks mouth had some real teeth! Big ones all the way back to the jaw. Moreso than the ones on the sac n american that I see usually that correct? Any difference? Seems like the near dead bucks round here just have the snout teeth for the most part.

You guys have crack-salmon down there! :smt005
