Like a bluegill but with orange tipped fins and tail. The mouth is quite a bit larger than a bluegill too.
Kids caught half a dozen of them, a few dozen bluegill and redears, a couple yellow perch and two spotted bass. Wondering what the mystery fish is.

green sunfish, sporting Breeding colors :smt003 Feisty little monsters. Bass will generally avoid them so not good for bait (Like blackbirds with a hawk) they can damage bass and will pound them till bass leave the area. Love the Electric blue on the gill plates. Remind me of the Jewel cichlids sold in fish stores....
