General Fishing Tips / kayak halibut on lures
« on: May 26, 2019, 01:30:17 PM »
I know most folks prefer live bait -then dead bait- then hoochy --not a real lure  :smt044 and ive seen a few old posts here with lime or such, swimbaits..
I take various things out with me on trips -but in general I only use frozen squid - and wont toss lures while I'm doing Butt work...once i've mine swept an area few times or pre leaving i'll chuck irons and anything that looks like stuff ive seen otw.....no takes....

I'm talking our coast- our catches- non shore- lure intel and stories...I'll wait to chime in then show the tutorial I've read re- read read again to no avail

General Talk / best waders/toughest/tal sizes??
« on: July 23, 2016, 04:20:17 AM »
I'm not too sure about waders -but am willing to give them a try..the biggest kayak booties I can get are size 15 and they stretch enough to make it a day sitting n my 17's--little tougher on my feet to surf fish in them as they fill with sand--been using bare feet and shorts--not good for sunset and beyond-windy days--and my farmer john which gets sand inside and boots fill up in surgy stuff..works okay -but notice the guys in waders seem more comfy and fish more -move less

wanted a set of rubber??? waders like I see the hard core surf guys wearing something I can keep the sand from filling my booties would be ideal..

would like a good set with good man warranty..if there is such a thing...not looking to by the top of the line but also know folks -know-- and dont want to save and end up buying 3 times etc...worth it to get the best one first--the ocean eats shit up  :smt003
thanks

Kayak Diving and Spearfishing / Largest dive bag
« on: February 18, 2016, 11:04:47 AM »
looking for a large good quality gear bag that fits fins(may have to strap those outer side) 70mm size spearguns---strong enough to have weight belt--and big enough to ad gear for a single person to fully gear up for a dive..imagine it has a shoulder strap or even two to wear like back pack...looking for something I can walk down a trail and be ready to gear up

I saw some huge ones at the cross dress for less in pacifica last year--did not buy one and knew at the time I was gonna regret it.
cant find XXXL Long gym type nylon dive bags...

what have folks here bought
Thanks

tried the search function first btw

saw these--seem not very long

Kayak Diving and Spearfishing / Learning to Spearfish
« on: January 16, 2016, 02:56:34 PM »
This site has been great for me and my wife--
The friends we've met
The events we have been to and those we have on deck for 2016
The knowledge and help We've gotten with gearing up and safety
I cant pick one thing above any of the above that does not go hand and hand with others
But If I had to think of the part I'm most grateful to N.C.K.A for its the folks I've met /fished with/camped with and the ones who took time to answer my endless questions online
I bought all the gear to go diving and was set back at first at how much harder it was than I had expected-
I took a few steps back and read reports and asked questions,as well as reading online a lot
The pile of gear $$$ was staring at me all 2015 hook and line season -I told myself as soon as 2016 gets here I'll start diving every weekend I can weather wise for exercise and to set a challenge for myself to learn
wtf I'm doing

I've had a chance to go 3 times so far in January and had the awesome luck of Having BigJim help me online through FB -answering questions and providing encouragement and tips of method and locations to get practice in...
I am very stoked to have gotten his help as it has got me on fish now and my learning curve is still hard but progresses each dive-so much to learn--what a blast so far
here are a few recent pics--my first ever spear Ling was 28"+ so cool
Today I went again inside the coming high swell--got back to my kayak just as it got snotty..
Thanks again to this site and to Jim for and Red Triangle and Joe Flores for all their help getting me to this point--cant wait to go again---best shit ever
