What's your opinion? What setup do you like? I love my plastic swimbaits but have been really intrested in stuff like diamond lures and lingbars lately.

I've found both to be effective
Some anglers may have their preferences on colors and sizes...
Some fish do to

Depends on the drift, and if there's lots of kelp.....  I like both. Currently using a 4oz bullet jig head with a pearl or green hoochie slipped over with a curly taiil swimbait...  metal jigs get expensive

Always wanted to try a peg 4oz egg sinker over a heavy duty EWG hook , with a hogy swimbait... for weedless 😂

For me, I find that 50/50 works best ......
50ft or shallower = better luck with plastics ...
50ft or deeper = better luck with iron type jugs.
There are exceptions to every rule, but this has worked for me 70% or more of the time.

I always start with 6oz jig with teaser. If I got time to fish, I will switch to 1-4oz jighead with 5.5 inch swimbait. If neither works, then back to shrimp fly with squid.

Most of these bottom fish are stupid, they will bite anything.  Those lings will choke on big dildos and whatever you put in their face.

Don't overthink it, save yourself money and go with leadhead and cheapo swimbait.  Just match the weight according to depth & drift and you should be just fine.  The only thing that I can think of that could get you more bites may be strips of squid on a tough day.

I've put single circle hooks on jigs with good results. Aggressive, opportunistic predators swallow......
I keep a jig on one rod and a swimbait on the other, and tip or scent them as needed.

I have been using this method:

buddy got this lure for his b-day, I told him I can catch a fish with it...gave me the lure (see pic 1)

1. Use the lure to catch a small RF (must be female ;) )

2. Attach two hook in the RF

3. Send it back down and catch a pimp daddy ling

rinse and repeat lol

Don’t say that—makes me feel bad when I can’t catch them...

Dick lures?
Wrenches with assist hooks?

Where have you guys been all my life!?

I do like the 2 rod setup, 1 with swim and 1 with jig and just pound them with both to see what the dummy's want that day.

Have you guys seen the new squid made by chasebaits.com? They look pretty sweet
