Kayak Fly Fishing / Kayak fly fishing for spotties
« on: October 17, 2017, 11:01:38 PM »
Got tired of getting skunked in Santa Cruz lately so I went down and did some fly fishing with my brother in San Diego. Stripping clousers and little sculpin heads with rabbit fur. Probably landed 30 spotted bass, a black croaker, mackerel and a bat ray. On a 4wt rod that was a lot of fun!

Here are some photos from the trip.

Hey guys it was cool to hook up with you all this morning. Great day!

So, here my fish tale: OK I went out in my kayak and fished for rockfish and lingcod (or anything) this morning. Caught a rock fish BUT I hooked into the biggest Halibut ever!! It must have been 40 pounds. Almost broke my rod. Played it for 10 minutes before it broke off my leader. Ugh. But now I know. So stoked.

Alternate story: guys said I hooked a rock. But I swear it was moving!!

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Lexington report
« on: July 01, 2017, 06:07:34 PM »
Took my PA12 out to Lexington this morning. I'm not much of a lake fisher but I wanted to test out the new kayak. Plus West Marine is having a great sale for the 4th and I picked up a new PFD, marine radio and some other junk. So it was good to test stuff out while I'm waiting for the ocean and weather to cooperate.

Didn't know about all the fees: kayak launch fee. Kayak inspection fee. Parking fee. Still had a great time. One bass. One catfish.

Introductions / Mash here...
« on: June 29, 2017, 12:23:30 AM »
Hi all, my name is Mash and I'm from Santa Cruz. I just picked up a pro angler 12 and I'm excited to get it out on the water. I'm new to kayak fishing so hopefully I can meet up and tag along with you sometime. In the meantime I'll be within eye sight of the harbor trying to figure this thing out.
