rigged weight on the 12' is 128#, on the 14' is 144#. Personally, im not enthralled loading my Manta Ray 14' or Magic 14.5, both about 70# or so, atop my Toyota FJ, though your car will be much lower.

Yikes!  Absolutely crazy amount of wasps there.

Patterson is right on the edge of the Atchafalaya basin, near some gorgeous cypress swamps and lakes with excellent fishing. Beautiful area.

CA Regulations / Re: Hearing Conditions vs. Rifle Silencer

there are some really great noise reduction devices that allow you to hear while hunting, but block the high decibel noise of the rifle shot.  Kind of expensive but beats going deaf.

Nice report.  Looks like you launched at Cuttings Wharf?

I've had good luck this month higher up by trolling swimbaits.  Best time seems to be at the bottom of low tide for me, but fish are smaller up higher.  Will need to go down there and check it out.

Check out friends of Lake Sonoma and get a pass for $35. I'll go with most anybody.  It's bow only though.

I would surface troll a purple/pink trolling fly, or similarly colored F7/F9 rapala.

Thanks Bro.  And Welcome.

Lake Sonoma has a special pig season that runs from Late November through March.  I figure that i will multi-task and troll while I paddle to get to the hunting spot. Prolly will have to much equipment to add a downrigger.

trolling lake sonoma for chrome.
Hmm, contemplating trolling in the kayak on Lake Sonoma, on my way to scout for pigs.  Any tips?

And welcome.  Did you get a kayak or still using the bateau?

Safety First / Re: Beware Tomales

Tomales is usually so peaceful back by Hog Island, even when the kicks up a little. I can't even imagine it being so bad you'd have to call 911.

Depends on the boat and the skill level.  If you're in a short boat that tracks poorly, and do not know how to paddle into a headwind, you can get in a heap of trouble when the weather kicks up.

high or low angle paddler?  I'm a High angle, so use the Werner Tybee, which is a great padle.  Broke my previous Aquabound pushing off some jetties.  The Skagit is good for low angle paddlers.

where are you launching?  I typically launch behind Napa Valley College.  Have caught a couple of Stripers, but have seen some sturgeon caught up there.  The river is flowing so hard right now i am not sure its fishable.

2kg fluke/plough anchor always worked better for me in wind/tide.  plus less weight to haul around.

Mung, what are you hoping to catch? I live about a 1/4 mile from the 128 bridge in Geyserville. However is rather fish the Napa river or even the Petaluma river abs target either stripers or sturgeon.

Anything.  Sounds like smallmouth bass and the occasional largemouth.  I like to throw artificials.  RR just looks nicer than Napa River, but Napa is in my backyard, so if I could figure it out I'd fish there all the time.  Not all that excited about bottom fishing though.
