I know spectra doesn't handle abrasion very well and that it also cuts easily. Does this have any effect on the use of Slide-O's for weights? I can imagine the spectra slicing through the plastic tube of the Slide-O and the Slide-O must abrade the line near the barrel swivel. Anybody had any of these problems?
And you could hear me screaming a mile away as I was headed out for the door....

a slido should be fine take a look inside your slido before each use to make shure there are no rough spots

I've had this same concerns, but the best way to deal with it is by tying a small length (3 to 10ft) of mono topshot.  For me, it always makes sense to do this regardless if I using a Slide-O or not..... since Mono is more abrasion resistant and less visible than Spectra.
