For Sale / 2011 Hobie Adventure Island
« on: February 28, 2020, 06:24:32 AM »
2011 Hobie AI comes with trampolines, 2 seats, tons of rod holders, and has turbo fins.

Boat was a demo so it’s stamped in a couple of places. Overall great shape, normal scratches on the hull and 1 or 2 trampoline buckles are broken (I think one). The sail and mast are in excellent shape and the mast receiver got new bearings when I bought it. Includes AKA bag, mast bag and rudder cover.

$2k

Call or text Cody at 707-344-8480

For Sale / AI and 6500w generator
« on: March 05, 2018, 11:52:16 AM »
I really don’t want to, but my housing situation is changing (read: I have to buy a house) and the AI’s gotta go I think so I can pay some crap off.

It’s a 2011 AI, turbo fins, tramps, lots and lots of rod holders and accessories. Bought it on here January of 2017 I believe. Has old style seat, but also a regular boat seat for full sail mode. No fish finder. Just did new mast bearings this winter. Paid $2800, would need $2500 out of it, and I’m still trying to find a way not to sell.

Also have a winco tri fuel 6500 watt genny I’ve had for a while. Runs on propane, natural gas or regular gas. It is complete, minus battery, but hasn’t been run in a few years. Turns over just fine. This thing is damn heavy, so it comes on a wood cart. Will include the full propane tank. I know these sold new for almost $3k. Honestly, since I have not had time to start it or mess with it, make me an offer on it in as is condition.

I can text pics, I work 7-5 Monday through Friday, so if you’re interested shoot me a text at 707-344-8480.

Thanks,

Cody

EDIT: Can include Lowrance total scan transducer (from elite 7ti) if it makes the deal. Its in a water bath under the center hatch.
You won't hurt my feelings with generator offers!

For Sale / Tarpon 160i $400
« on: May 04, 2017, 10:25:41 AM »
Thinking of selling my WS Tarpon 160i. I love the boat, fast and efficient, but no that I have the AI for going long distance I use the Tarpon less and less. Bought it last year from my neighbor for cheap. Cleaned it up, put a WS rudder kit on it and flush mount rod holders behind the seat. Also replaced all the worn out original bungees with new. It has a large ram ball up front for ff mounting, and the smaller 1" beside that to mount a ram transducer mount. It also has a 1" hole (filled with goop) with a lowrance power cable passed through to the hull. I would replace that goop with a hobie through hull plug if I were to keep it.

Selling as a bare hull, no leaks, all hatches etc present, but no seat/paddle/etc. Rudder kit alone was $300 so selling the boat for $400

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Standard Horizon CS
« on: April 03, 2017, 01:25:30 PM »
Just wanted to share my recent experience with standard horizon customer support, in case any one else has dealings with them.

I somehow managed to lose the battery cover to my HX-870, rendering it useless. I thought, no big deal, I'll find one online and order it up, no problem. Couldn't find one online anywhere, so I called up support. The first lady told me they have a new parts system, and that the HX-870 wasn't even in there yet. She couldn't tell me prices or anything, just that they'd be 4-6 weeks for delivery and she'd e-mail me when she knew prices. This wouldn't do (buy a back up radio!!!!) so she transferred me to the warranty department, thinking they'd have a broken radio they could rob a battery door off of. No dice, so accepting that I wouldn't be hitting the ocean for 6 weeks, I rang the parts dept. back up. Got a different lady this time, told her what I needed, and all she did was ask for my address and say "Ok."

So at this point I don't know if I'll be getting the part anytime soon or what. And I start looking for a back up radio. Well, the battery door showed up at my house the NEXT DAY. I was stoked, but I don't know how we went from 4-6 weeks, to having the part in hand next day. So if you need something from them, beware that there's some sort of communication breakdown somewhere over there, and if the first person can't get it, hang up and call back!

Moral of the story, have a back up radio!!!!

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Bigger rod holders?
« on: March 01, 2017, 08:10:09 PM »
Recently picked up a Phenix 809 abyss rod, and with the cap on the end, it doesn't fit in my railblaza holders. Just wondering if anyone knew of something that would hold a thicker butt?

I thought about removing the end cap, but haven't looked into that too far yet, and I'm hesitant to tear into a $200 rod.

For Sale / Thresher 140 $1000
« on: February 08, 2017, 03:36:43 PM »
Dusk color Ws thresher 140 with rudder. Can't remember if it's a 2014 or 2015 but I bought it new about a year ago. In good shape, just the normal scratches, no dents, dings or gouges. Only holes are two flushmount rod holders behind the seat. Can include paddle and bazooka rod holders. Boat has the tray in the center console (the stepped one with two depths).

BAD: the pod has been drilled for two different fish finders now, so it does have its share of holes. They're filled with goop and it seals, but if your picky, I'd get a new one. We can work that into the deal.

Super nice kayak, I love it, but when I started this venture I wanted a Revo 16 or AI. Now that I have the tarpon 160 as a backup, I have to get rid of this to fit another kayak I think. I have seen a few for sale used on Craigslist for 11-1200, so 1000 is my asking. Also looking for a 16' Revo (with 180) or possibly an older AI (having a hard time deciding, But there's one on here that's got my interest) in trade + cash kinda deal. Worth a shot right?

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / We took all the crabs!
« on: February 04, 2017, 08:11:35 PM »
Headed out to Doran today in an effort to finally get a limit of dungys, magic seaweed finally got the forecast right and it was sporty out there! Took two friends from work, 4 pots and 2 hoops.

Worked them for about 4 hours for 5 dungys and 10 rock/reds, seems we took all the crabs at crab fest! Split them between the three of us so it was a good first experience for them and hopefully they're hooked now!

Met 3 guys otw, seems they were having a slow day with the big swell too. If it was you, hope you're luck turned around!

I really enjoy this crabbing thing, good for me to get otw, and the girlfriend loves the super she gets out of it! Can't beat that!

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Jigging/Sturgeon rod?
« on: January 24, 2017, 06:46:18 PM »
Looking for a new rod for multi-use. The Truth SG reel will be going on it, and I'd like to use it for jigging up Lings and rockfish, but will also be using it for general saltwater duty (halibut, sharks, rays and salmon), and soaking bait for sturgeon.

I may be asking a lot here, but if possible I'd like to have one rod do it all well. The reading I have been doing here and elsewhere points to the Shimano Trevala (50-100lb), but I was wondering what other options there are? I'd like to have a little casting ability, so the shorter rods don't really do it for me, something 6'6" to 7'3" seems right. Specifically, I've been wondering about the Phenix AXIS HAX-720X3H 7'2" 60-130lb mod./fast action, but haven't found much relating specifically to that weight rod used for what I want. I realize I could but 3 Trevala's for that price, but something draws me to it if it works well

Any input helpful!

Thanks,

Cody

General Talk / Truth reels now Seigler
« on: January 23, 2017, 08:17:30 PM »
Truth reels, formerly release reels, is now Seigler reels. I guess someone sued them over the truth name, just like the Release name and now they are Seigler. At any rate the site says they'll still offer the lifetime warranty for both the Truth and Release names, and the Seiglers are the same reels as before with different names.

Just grabbed one of two in stock small game reels still called Truth for ocean duty, after reading the reviews and good things about customer service it was time to stop balking on getting a real ocean reel!

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Fishing this weekend?
« on: January 19, 2017, 05:19:54 PM »
I know most are going to the ISE show, but just wondering if anyone was fishing this weekend?

I'm looking at both Lake Hennessy to try my winter bass skills or Sherman lake striper action. Looks like showers and 10 mph winds for both for now, which is doable, but I wonder about debris at Sherman and I haven't looked at the tides yet.

Any input welcome!

Wilderness Systems / Finally got a Tarpon 160i!
« on: January 02, 2017, 09:59:02 PM »
Right place, right time! Went to my old house today to retrieve my bed cover, and my old neighbor stopped by. Had a sweet Tarpon 160i on the top of his truck. Anyway, I looked it over real quick and I took it home for less than $100!

I got it home and cleaned up, and it's actually pretty sweet. It's obviously well used, and had been outside for a couple of years, so it's got some scratches, but the hatches and hull don't leak and it's straight, so no complaints from me!

I was just wondering what seat people recommend for it, and if the WS rudder fits this kayak or if I should be looking elsewhere? I thought about pulling the seat out of my Thresher and seeing if I could retrofit it somehow before dropping the cash on one, anyone have experience with that? Also any way to tell what year?

Anyway, here she is, will make a great second kayak, and I'm stoked! Here's a pic after cleaning.

Wilderness Systems / Wilderness crate?
« on: July 27, 2016, 06:43:11 PM »
I swear I saw something on here for a new Wilderness Systems or Harmony kayak crate, but now I can't find it anywhere here or Google.

Am I blind, or dreaming?
