General Fishing Tips / Re: Anchor Bay ?
« on: August 21, 2019, 10:22:56 PM »
In my group, we fish there upwards of 10 times a year, and one of the guys has a hobie. He usually drops his peddles in less than 50 yards from shore. The fishing grounds are well out of the kelp at anchor bay. You can try fishing the cove itself, but it really isn’t productive. As was stated above, a wetsuit is a must. Pay the $10 to have Fred or Chris take your yak down to chicken cove and have a good time.

Make sure it’s 18”x18”. Fish and game didn’t seem to keen on a triangle shaped net when I talked to them a few months ago. The warden said he would probably let one slide, but some other wardens might be sticklers due to not being 18” all the way around.

Most JC’s allow students at the 16 years old. A JC would be the best place to get started. He would be able to learn a lot

What kind of beer is best for this?  Is any beer hurt in the process?  What is a PVC? Can I mount this on that awesome deal custom rack?

ps:  Nice instructions, thanks!

PVC is poly vinyl chloride.

My buddies had some whales surface in front of them at ocean cove a couple months ago. They said the baitfish started jumping in front of them and then the whales surfaced and a few minutes later the baitfish started jumping again and that time it was a white shark between there yaks. They started telling me about this as we we’re fishing in the same spot last month. They were trying to get a rise out of me, but it didn’t faze me. I figure I would rather go out doing something fun.

That would be scary as hell. That sound is amazing.

65lb braid with a steel leader 6”-12” long. I like to tie a very short piece of 25lb mono between the braid and leader in case you get hung up. Much easier to break free. I use swimbaits too with either 4 or 6oz heads.

I know this is from may, but the sewage treatment plant comment is correct. My buddies dad was a caretaker on a duck club directly behind  the brewery and he told us years ago that 75% of the treated water goes to the sod farm across the street, 20% goes the anheiser busch, and the last 5% is released to the nearby duck clubs. After being told that, I have called it butt wiper ever since.
