Well Folks...

It's looking like the storm may try to get the best of us on Friday... right now the forecast is calling for morning SE Winds up to 10 knots, clocking around to the SW in the afternoon and increasing into the mid to upper teens.

For some reason, Iwindsurf.com has the winds being a little less agressive in San Pablo bay than in other portions of the Bay, but it's still looking like a bumpy ride. :smt026

But don't dispair... there may be a chance of decent weather on Saturday... right now they're calling for single digit winds out of the SW, building to 10 knots mid-day, and becoming W and decreasing in strength later in the afternoon for San Pablo Bay.

Of course, periods of rain is guranteed on Friday and Saturday... but I'm okay with that.

Next weather update will be after 6:00 pm... stay tuned...

I'll get a powerboat at some point too.  But I'll still use my kayaks to fish rockfish and dive for abalones.  I'll probably start with a montauk or something similar, but first I need a driveway or sideyard to park it in.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

You can park it at my house.  Just leave the keys...

Here's the latest forecast for SanPablo bay from Iwindsurf.com...

Time   /    Direction    /  WIND(kts)
6AM   /     E          /         8-12
8AM     /   E          /         7-11
10AM   /   E            /       8-12
12PM    /  SSE       /        4-8
2PM     /  SSW      /         10-14
4PM    /   WSW       /       14-18
6PM     /  WSW     /         10-14

Altogether, San Pablo bay should be more protected than other parts of the bay but it's still going to be pretty darn rough with the wind clocking around from the East to south west... blowing against the current and across the whole bay.  Oh... and it's supposed to rain pretty hard tomorrow too.

I'm thinking I'm going to pull out for Friday and try to look at Saturday as a better possibility.   I might just stay in and wrap some rods on Friday.

Joel & Sean ... what are your thoughts?

Erik, thanks for the update.  As of 6pm, the news weather folks are predicting some incredibly nasty winds with lots of rain Friday morning for the entire area.

My good sense tells me I should wait till Saturday although I'm itchin' bad to go Friday.

I also think we stand a better chance Saturday, but you just never know anymore.

Let what you guys decide.

I did not get to go fishing in FL. I caught a cold and was out for almost the entire week. Then I return to a meltdown at my office that has me working, like for real working...  :smt010

Hopefully I will be out in a couple of weeks. I am planning on spending all the gift cards I got for Xmas soon!

it is true i am looking for a power boat, not to replace my kayak, but to supplement my armada, and to ply the waters of the delta.  i have a big truck now and i rented a 25' parking spot down the street. can't wait for the boat show!
-who is going to the breakfast caucus, i just sent my check to don from coastside{you all need to join, for your own good}, i am looking forward to it.   it would be nice if more kayakers were there, usually it is just me and pierre.

We used to have a nice PB, but now I mooch off , I mean crew for, my buddy.  They are fun, but to be honest I don't miss the maintenance and other costs.  I thought maintenance wouldn't be bad if it was brand new, I should have known better.  I used to really get pissed by the annual county bill for owning a boat... :smt019.

You definitely can do things we can't though.  When the salmon are 10 miles I'm sure your phone will be ringing.
