Dove solo in the Monterey area yesterday in an area that is usually dangerous due to waves and rocks. It still had waves (I brought the boogie float to help me ride them in after I was done). Did a SUPER far surface swim to get way out there. I really want to get my gopro back from my photographer that helped with the baby announcement because I was diving 50' and could still somewhat see the bottom. Crazy good vis. One scallop I found was really big, but it was super deep and straight cemented in the crack. I was trying from a few angles and just couldn't get it off. Also didn't want to break the shell and kill it, so I left it alone after a couple drops. I ended up in a huge school of blues down in 40' and had fun holding sea weed and lining up shots on the two biggest I could find. I was only going for size yesterday, didn't need a ton of meat since I dove Sunday too and got a fair amount. I think I will nickname this spot Greenlingville because of how many I saw. I also found a nice school of Opal Eye and since I haven't got one this year, I decided to pull the trigger on the biggest in the group. I only had a window for about 2 hours of diving but still managed to take a couple nice size blues (15.5"), a greenling (16"), a scallop (only 4") and an opal eye (16"). Wish I could have stayed out longer because the structure was fantastic. The only ling I saw (~26") was when I shot the greenling, it came out to see what all the commotion was about, but it wasn't big enough to drop back down and look for. Also found a cab, but wasn't the 20"+ that I'm looking for. Great day. Unfortunately the swell is picking up and I am supposed to dive Friday with my buddy from LA. I don't mind swell so long as vis is still decent! Pray that the vis holds up!! =P

There's definitely a fish under THIS rock....
