I went out to SC again Sunday. The forecast was 3-4 feet swell. But 3 guys on the kayak got really sea sick and had to end the trip early. I started fishing SC last August. When the forecast was 3’ to 4’ from August thru December, the ocean was quite calm. But I have done 3 trips this year the last two months, a 3’ to 4’ forecast feels more like 6’ to 8’. And it seems worse in the reef outside the lighthouse close to that small yellow buoy used to be. My theory is the reef rises sharply from 70’ to 50’. So if the swell is perpendicular to the reef, it creates bigger wave. Thoughts?
BTW, I only caught one RF but my friend caught a 34” halibut.

Fished the lighthouse area today. Got a lingcod about 27” and a few RF.
The swell seemed bigger than the forecasted 3’-4’

Nice!

I'm surprised about the swell on the west side, as I was at Pleasure Point at about 10:30 this morning (not fishing) and the swell looked small.

While I was checking Surfline on Saturday I watched a guy fishing steamer on what looked like a surfboard with some kind of a box strapped on the nose

Maybe he's just on a tall stepladder...
Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away...
