For Sale / 2018 Hobie Compass $SOLD!!
« on: August 24, 2019, 02:53:49 PM »
Bought recently from MooMoo’s friend in Vallejo.  Only took it out twice and it’s not for me.  Though I like how light it is, I’ll be going back to my Outback.

Selling it exactly how I purchased it a week ago, plus a ram ball mount I installed for my Lowrance.  For an additional $150, I can leave my Lowrance Elite 5x, transducer, and wiring on the kayak.

Comes with drive and turbo fins, paddles, seat, and kayak cart.

$1500
Or $1650 with Lowrance Elite5x.

Call me 408-204-8400.  First come first serve.  Kayak is on my truck, just got back from Frank Miller event in Richmond.  I live in El Cerrito.

For Sale / 2014 Hobie Outback - NO LONGER FOR SALE
« on: August 18, 2019, 09:36:12 PM »
Picked up a Compass, which I’ll settle for until I find a ‘19+ Outback.  So my trusty ‘14 is up for sale.  Lots of good memories and fish blood has hit this deck in the past two years I’ve owned it.  Original owner was an older woman in Napa, who peddle leisurely on the Napa River for bird watching.  Picked this up in July 2017, and has been a great kayak for me.

2014 Hobie Outback
Dune color
Some scratches on the bottom, but never excessive dragging on hard surfaces.  I fish 1-3x per week, so this kayak got a lot of use (Tomales, Paradise, Bolinas, Richmond, Berkeley) but still has plenty of life in her.

Includes:
Mirage drive with turbo fins
Hobie paddles
Kayak cart
Lowrance Elite5 Fishfinder and transducer.  Already wired.
Ram ball mount for the FF
Scotty flush mounts and Scotty rod holders
Two rear track mounts
Large landing net

Will get pictures up tomorrow.
Willing to help deliver for a serious buyer.  Can bring it with me to the San Pablo event next weekend.

For Sale / Landing nets
« on: August 17, 2019, 06:05:03 PM »
Good landing nets for whichever species you target.

Big used landing net - $20
Opening is 32” x 25”.  Good for salmon, halibut, rays, sharks, etc.  big fish.  Some rust from being used in salt but can easily clean up.  Handle slides to compact down.

Ego S1 net - $15
Near new.  Opening is 18” x 16”.  Good for smaller species.  Bass, trout, perch, etc.  Got this is a kayak bundle recently.  Too small for my target species.

Can deliver around the Bay.  I travel quite a lot.

Daiwa Acculite 9'6
Bought this a while back when I tried steelhead fishing one time.  Never used it again and had been sitting in the garage.  Very noodly.  I'm sure it could be of use for someone.
$20?

Daiwa Acculite 8'6"
I have 4 of these.  Used them a lot when I was solely shore plugging for Halibut, stripers, and surf perch.  "New" and unused but has been stored in my garage and has some light scratches from moving around.
$40?

Shimano Sahara 4000 spinning reel
Spooled with 8 or 10lb mono.  Can't remember.  Primarily my surf perch reel.  Used a few times, but now just sits in the garage.
$$40?

Located in El Cerrito Ca.

Wanted To Buy / wtb: 2019 Outback
« on: June 17, 2019, 10:03:49 PM »
Not in a rush to buy and not really looking to buy brand spanking new (and pay taxes) unless its a screaming deal.

Just if you know anyone looking to unload their '19 outback, then shoot them my way.
Willing to travel anywhere in California, maybe even Oregon is needed.  I'll just make it a roadtrip vacation.

Thanks,

Kevin

General Fishing Tips / Criss cross fishing rods on the kayak?
« on: June 17, 2019, 06:18:50 PM »
I'm curious why some of you do this.  Ie rod holder on the right but the rod points to the left or vice versa.  And two rods that cross each other.
Been seeing this a lot on photos and videos.

Is there some simple explanation that I'm just not understanding?

For Sale / Lowrance Elite 5x FF - $160
« on: June 16, 2019, 11:19:35 PM »
Selling my backup Lowrance.  Came off my '14 outback when I upgraded to an Elite 5 TI.  Kept it as a backup if my TI ever crapped out or if I got another yak.  Its going to be awhile until I pick up a '19 Outback and I'll probably buy another 5/7 TI.

Worked fine when removed.  Stored indoors in a box.
Includes transducer, power cable, transducer cable, and factory mounting bracket.

Looking to get $160.
Can ship anywhere in the US for an additional $12 (medium flat rate box).

For Sale / Daiwa Lexa 400H *New* - $190
« on: June 13, 2019, 07:38:19 PM »
Bought this two months intended to try rock fishing again and maybe salmon.  I'm just kidding myself... I'm not much of a rockfisher nor salmon guy.  Bought this online for $199.95+tax+shipping.  Comes with original box, packaging, and manual.  Never spooled any line on it yet.  Removed just to take a picture.

Looking to get $190 for it.  Can ship USPS flat rate medium box for $12 or pickup in El Cerrito (or along in the East Bay).

For Sale / 2013 Hobie Tandem Outfitter $1600
« on: June 01, 2019, 07:30:57 PM »
Selling our Hobie Outfitter because my wife and I aren't going out together much.  I think we'll go back to having individual kayaks and not have to lug around this kayak.

History:
Bought this last Fall from an acquaintance of mine.  He took it out a few times before switching to an inflatable zodiac because of lack of storage space at his condo.  He lost a drive because he flipped on a surf landing and didn't leash the drives.  Once in my possession, I bought a new drive, upgraded both drives with turbo fins, and added an anchor.  My wife and I took it out for Crabfest for 2 days and has since been in storage.  During Crabfest, one of the drives was "taken".  I left the kayak on the beach with the drives resting on the seats for most of the event.  We packed up and realized one of the drives was missing.  Super bummed, probably why we never took it out again.  So now we're selling it.

Info:
2013 Hobie Outfitter Tandem
Papaya Yellow Color
In pretty good condition.  Some scratches on the bottom but floats, no leaks.
Comes with:
(1) mirage drive system with turbo fins
(1) pair of Hobie paddles
(2) Hobie seat cushions
(1) anchor and ~50ft of rope
(1) Garmin Striker 4 Fishfinder, wiring, and transducer

Looking to get $1600.  Pretty much was I paid for it prior to any upgrades I spend.
Located in El Cerrito.  Can help with delivery for a serious buyer.
Willing to give a full refund if any serious problems arise within 14 days (i.e. leaks, broken parts).

Will have pictures up soon.

Location:  Ferry Point / Miller Knox Regional Shoreline
Time: Either Saturday 6/8 or Saturday 6/22.  6:30am - 3pm or so
What to bring:  Some food/drinks for a BBQ potluck.  And any gear you want to bring for the swap/sale.
Details:
Looks like there's some interest in this.  You guys gotta help me and vote on which Saturday you'd like.  I looked at the tides and these two days seem to work, pending wind conditions.

There's plenty of free parking, good facilities (clean bathroom, fish clean station, and kayak wash station), and a BBQ right nearby the parking lot and launch beach.  The idea is to go fishing in the morning and start heading back around noonish.  Or you guys can stay out and i'll head in around noon to start the grill.  In the morning, I'll share some local knowledge of the area and where to hunt for those halibuts if you're new to Ferry Point.

You guys are welcome to wheel & deal, negotiate, trade gear, or just hang out.  Of course, this is a FREE event, though I highly encourage sharing food and drinks with your fellow NCKAers.
Debating on putting together a prize or some sort of raffle for biggest fish of the day.  Will know in a week or so.

Please cast your vote by posting SAT 6/8 OR SAT 6/22.

Original Post:
My wife has been giving me the "look" when she sees me come home with a new rod or reel or both.  She says I already have so many in the garage and in my little hobby corner of the living room.  Why not sell some of the ones I'm not using anymore?

Thinking about hosting a Fish n' Chill in the East Bay once the weather and halibut really heat up (May, June, or July?).  I'd be down to BBQ for those who come hang, and of course, you guys are welcome to bring all your unused gear to sell/swap with our other local members.  Or maybe I'll pass this idea to Michael and Jack and combine it with the San Pablo Stripers/Halibut event in August.

Otherwise, the location would be at one of our local parks/fishing grounds.  Ferry Point, ARW, Marina Bay, and Berkeley all have BBQ and picnic areas to BBQ with plenty of parking space for NCKA members.

Well?
Yay or nay?

For Sale / West Marine VHF160 waterproof floating radio
« on: April 01, 2019, 09:37:42 PM »
Found this sitting in my spare box.  Battery doesn't seem to hold charge but that's it.  Turns on quickly but you can see the battery indicator dying.  I'm sure it just needs a new battery and charger and good to go.

https://www.westmarine.com/buy/west-marine--vhf160-floating-6w-handheld-vhf-radio--14078562?recordNum=1

maybe $40?

Pick up in El Cerrito or can ship via USPS flat rate.

Have these two sitting around and I don't think I'll be using them this season for Halibut.

Ugly Stik Custom - USCC2270ML
Length: 7'0" - 1 piece
Action:  Medium Light
Line:  12-30lb
https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/shakespeare-ugly-stik-custom-boat-rod
Was part of deal that I purchased.  I just wanted a reel but was given this rod with the reel.  Looks brand spanking new, I've never used it.  Reminds me of the Ugly Stik Tigers but the handle isn't quite as fat as the Tigers.  May keep it if I find a good reel to pair up with it.  Asking $40

Daiwa FT Rod - FTB701HF
Length:  7'0" - 1 piece
Action:  Heavy
Line:  30-50lb
http://www.daiwa.com/us/contents/rods/ft_boat/index.html
Bought this rod last summer and used it for one season of halibut fishing, mainly in Tomales Bay.  Had it paired with a Daiwa Accudepth, which both worked great together and pulled up many halibut, 30lb+ rays, and a few big angel sharks.  Always rinsed with freshwater after every outing.  I'm just upgrading to a lighter, more agile setup.  Asking $20

Can have pictures of either rod up later this week.
Pick up in El Cerrito or we can hook up for fishing and I'll bring them with me.

For Sale / SOLD: 2007 Hobie Outback Red - SOLD
« on: January 17, 2019, 07:12:29 PM »
Bought this from another NCKA member two months ago for my wife.  Well, she didn't like it as much as our OK Trident 13 and prefers the traditional paddling.

So this is back up for sale.
We only used it once at Doran Beach about a month ago.  I spent a good amount of time cleaning it up, fixing a bunch of small nit knacks that needed attention (old cords, loose screws, lots of cleaning).

Comes with hobie drive, hobie seat, Carlisle paddle, and wheels.

Can help deliver for a serious buyer.  I'm working a lot in Marin (Larkspur/San Rafael/Novato) during the weekdays and travel to the South Bay (Milpitas/San Jose) on the weekends.  Or I can bring this with me to CrabFest on Jan 26/27 as well.

Pics to come tomorrow.  Currently located in Berkeley/El Cerrito area.
