Sara landing on the beach:

I took Sara to do Aaron's Kayak Fishing Rig/Surf/Rescue Class at MBK this past weekend and wanted to share the experience.  It's my second time, yet I feel like I got just as much if not more out of it the second time around.

We had a great time, especially with such a great teacher like Aaron!  Had two other NCKA'ers in the class, but forgive me since I forgot your names!  Sara said her confidence level has shot through the roof now and admitted that a lot of her prior fears have been cleared up now that she has been through it.

Take a look at Sara doing her first ever self rescue!

My favorite part is the bracing and side surfing waves.  Its something I never really spend time doing since all I want to do is get through the surf zone to go fishing.  But its a lot of fun to get out there and just get wet too once in a while  :smt002

Here is the class outline for those of you that may be interested:  http://www.montereybaykayaks.com/go_kayaking/classes.lasso#rigfish

Thank you once again Aaron!  Your class is awesome!!!

Some pics of the class!

Saturday, affter the MBK class, Sara and I drove down Hwy 1 to Capitola and took a look at the water there and it was just beautiful!  :smt007 Glassy, no wind, just wonderful out there!  So I decided I would hit it up on Sunday while Sara enjoys the day with a friend.   :smt002

I get out there, unload, see a beautiful sunrise and there is no wind, little cloudy, but looks like it will be a nice day. Not many people out there, guessing since its mothers day.  Get out to the first kelp bed and do some pot-holing the kelp, and catch my one and only fish for the outting.   :smt012

Then the wind started to pick up, and the sun rose up above the clouds giving no more heat, and it started to sprinkle.  Decided to head after only a few hours fishing and just got back to the beach when it started pouring!  Didn't know it was going to rain or I might have stayed home to work on gear for GMS4.  :smt004
