Though it is still two months out, I was talking about this Sunday while fishing and thought I'd post a few pics to gin up enthusiasm in the coming months.

Back from the ashes (literally) is the open studio art show DoonArt, above the marine layer in Bonny Doon (Santa Cruz mountains between Davenport and Highway 17).

Each studio will have big yellow signs out front. Hours will be 11am-5pm Saturday and Sunday.
There will be 29 artists participating in 2022. I'll link to a printable map as soon as they become available.

I've got a weird menu of things I'll have on display, from gaffs and fillet knives to to Pacific coast inspired wood panel paintings, to Viking shields, wizard wands, and some custom costuming from the costume vault.
We'll also have a beautiful selection of craft made natural soaps too.

So, I had a wonderful wooden cable spool table that finally succumbed to a dozen winters outside. When I tried to move it all the spool slats fell out and the entire thing collapsed. Since I had varnished the top all I was left with was a heavy disk of wood planks.
Not one to throw anything away that could be repurposed, I used a few bits of sheet steel and a brass knob to build this Viking-style shield to decorate our firepit area.
The two raven head silhouettes represent Huginn and Muninn, Odin't trusty, all-seeing pair of ravens.
I liked it so much I've got two more in the works, but the new ones will be traditional butted plank, clinched nail construction with iron bosses.

I'm looking for replacement nets for a couple of old hoops I have. I left them out while my shed was being torn down and rats chewed up the netting.

Can anyone suggest where to get replacement nets? I think the hoops are 30" diam.

did a search on this here and all I found was a post from 2013 that suggested Janns, but I didn't see any replacements of that size.

I'm keen to get the old hoops back into my crabbing weaponry.

I got this blade as a Christmas gift last December and have been slowly determining how to finish it for an upcoming camping trip. I ended up going with a semi hidden tang using some tan oak scrap that was leftover from the bathroom renovation in January. The wood grew in our yard!
It turned a little rough but this is the prettiest it will ever be!

A few months back I was contacted to create a piece that has been kicking around in fishing conversations for a while.

It was to be a "something special" piece to mark the driveway on a fisherman's house.

first step was a sketch and approval from the customer. Then it was off to the yard to get some 2x12 redwood and some sheet aluminum.

Hi guys, figured I'd ask this question here.  Would any of you North Coasters have an agent to recommend? I've got one potential but would appreciate any suggestions as well.

Never thought I'd hear my wife say "why not move to the Cove or Bragg?" but here we are

Never gone property shopping without external duress, so I'm kinda looking forward to it.
We've got kayak-unrelated friends in the Hydesville and Ferndale areas we're going to visit soon so we can get a nice taste of the place.

OK, so they aren't "barndoors" but for calihalis they are ptreety good.

whole squid in 100+FOW on Sunday. Fish ended up 38"/21lbs and 32"/13lbs
water was supposed to be SCA but it clamed off nicely from about 9-noon.
Got major WAF point for these two
