I've recently been thinking of Rob as well, as I've been completing an art piece for one of his friends. I think I met Rob only once or twice maybe, but and i didn't know him, but he's been in my thoughts.
it's been a lot of years I've been here, so there are too many great individuals that aren't around anymore. I think that they are still with us, teaching us stuff through our memories, and i like that idea a lot. I try and take one new person out a season just trying to live up to some of those people and the memories they gave me.

When I'm driving home on a summer or fall afternoon on highway 1, kayak on the roof, sand on my bare feet it doesn't matter if the fishing was good or not. I'm in my happy place and i know how lucky I've gotten in the last 52 years.

Just the other day i read the recommended intake of fluids was like 3.7 liters for adult men and 2.7 liters for adult women.

I was on a Channel Islands geology class 3 day field trip and we hiked from Prisoners' harbor over to a beach on the other side of SC Island. I had a plastic military canteen with me, but once at the beach I found it had split at a seam and was empty. I had one soft drink for the whole day then, with temp in the 90s and on the 4 mile hike back had to hit up a classmate for a granola bar and a pint of water. When I asked them they took one look at me and said "oh shit!" so I must have looked like I was about to pass out.
There are multiple evacs/ first aid responses on the island each year for dehydration or heat related illnesses. The winds can really parch you out, even with the temp at a reasonable point.

Costco 20 lb ice use to be $2.29 now is over $3, still a good deal compared to what grocery and gas stores charge.

saw this at the Santa Cruz costco, can confirm  about $3 for what looked to be 20# bags.

Though it is still two months out, I was talking about this Sunday while fishing and thought I'd post a few pics to gin up enthusiasm in the coming months.

Back from the ashes (literally) is the open studio art show DoonArt, above the marine layer in Bonny Doon (Santa Cruz mountains between Davenport and Highway 17).

Each studio will have big yellow signs out front. Hours will be 11am-5pm Saturday and Sunday.
There will be 29 artists participating in 2022. I'll link to a printable map as soon as they become available.

I've got a weird menu of things I'll have on display, from gaffs and fillet knives to to Pacific coast inspired wood panel paintings, to Viking shields, wizard wands, and some custom costuming from the costume vault.
We'll also have a beautiful selection of craft made natural soaps too.
