Hoping it's not one of ours.

*Weird, just went back to the PD to copy the link and now the story is gone.

The report is still sketchy!

SAN MATEO, CALIF.
Search crews have found the body of a 38-year-old man who went missing while kayaking in the San Francisco Bay.

KNTV-TV reports (http://cbsloc.al/2dp2hSz ) that a crew with the U.S. Coast Guard discovered the body of the missing man early Sunday near the San Mateo bridge.

The kayaker had gone missing Saturday afternoon while paddling near the San Francisco International Airport.

The victim's identity has not been released pending notification of his family.

So sad... RIP fellow kayaker.

I hope they release a more complete report of what happened. Without details, we cannot learn from this horrible experience.

You know, this happens more often than you think, even when people go out with with a big group of NCKA'ers.  Before people leave, we all should do a quick well being check on who is still out and if all is OK.

Have had that happen up here as well, when one guy wants to peel off to his favorite spot but everyone else wants to fish where there at. It's not hard for a paddle craft to go a different direction without making a sound.

That is really sad. I try to carry and extra radio (Fully Charged) in the car for anyone I fish with.
I'll float off chasing fish but always stay within visual and radio contact. I hope they release what happened so we
can all learn from it. R.I.P. Mr. Kayaker. :smt010

Interesting. Whenever I go out knowing theres noobs I always keep my eyes on them. Those who are experienced I let them be. But on noobs I encourage them to stick with the group. If I loss sight them radio. I carry spare for that purpose. Otherwise I stick like a glue.

are they just kayakers or were they fishing?   if just recreational kayakers, perhaps that's another community, and im not sure how serious they are in terms of safety.  this is horrible, r.i.p.
