GWKC saw a GWS on the water today.  Me and the mendo crew were fishing in 50 feet south of arena and we decided to move out to deeper water.  As we got about 300 yards out I look towards Mahi and see a fin sticking out of the water 8-12 inches and MOVING right along about 50 yards off his stern.   :smt103 I have seen many dolphins etc. and I have NO DOUBT that it was the man...holy shit!!!!

I got on the radio and the crew was ridiculously calm (I think cause they didn't actually see it), I on the other hand was shitting myself.  We moved into shallower water.

Bite was slow, good whale show, and believe it or not real rain!

Fishing was WFO for gophers!  No pics...it all happened too fast and I was deer in the headlights.

Completely understandable!!  I want to see one, just not the way you did, in a kayak, maybe at Guadalupe Is. while catching tuna.

Too funny!  Now whenever me and my kids see someone with a sleeveless shirt we giggle at their expense.

They're definitely there. Here's a pic of one fellow's tuna that got chomped right at the boat. The crew tossed cherry bombs at them, in an attempt to scare them off, to no avail. They were hungry. 97 out of 102 jumbo tuna on the hook that day ended up feeding the Landlords. Didn't help that there was a dive boat nearby, chumming the waters to attract the sharks to their customers in dive cages.

Damn, I don't ever want a run in with the landlord. That must've been crazy. Sleeveless shirts... I know exactly what you mean... Fortunately, I've never had to rip my sleeves off for my own benefit... but, someone else has benefitted from my sleeves... :smt002 Hey, you got to do what you got to do... I love it.

Over the years I have seen sharks only a few times when on or in the water and always just like what you have described: a chance look and there it was, could just as easily have not seen it. Makes one wonder how many times we have been checked out and never aware. Ignorance or lack of imagination is sometimes a good thing.
