Hello every I'm new to this forum but I've been a member of NWKA for a while now but there just doesn't seem to be a large number of yak fishermen that fish in my area. I live in selma Oregon so the most common place I'll be fishing is brookings, but also fish the lakes around here. Just trying to see how many of you fish brookings and surrounding areas. Maybe now that the ocean is calming down some we can get some fishing in. Cheers

Welcome to the community, Kyle.  I haven't been on NWKA for years, but I used to post there more.  For a couple of years quite a few NWKAer's came to my tournament at Shelter Cove, but that was years ago.

Anyway - you will find that there are some Humboldt guys and maybe a few from Del Norte that do come up to Brookings.  Crash is on it - he'll chime in soon.

Good luck - see you on the water.   :smt001

Yep, you should contact crash either here or on NWKA and be sure to ask him about the Rogue kayak anglers Facebook group.  Just a thought: maybe you'll find all the Southern Oregon kayakers on NWKA if you try posting more than four times a year - people might know you're there.

Welcome!
I’ve got family in crescent city so I’m in Brookings a couple times a year. Never yak fished the rogue but that sounds pretty epic. Tight lines

Rogue should have another exceptional year this year. I try to hit the Chetco bubble salmon fishery every year.  We should have a lot of good days for halibut this year too.

Selmac and applegate are both fun lakes in your area. Kiet and Howard are up in your area.  The Medford guys have been really quiet lately and I know one of them had to retire from kayaking for medical reasons. Dean is out in K falls and is very active. There’s a few guys in roseburg that mostly fish bass.  Coos Bay has a good number of kayak fishermen and they have a facebook page if you search it.

Welcome!

Hi and Welcome ,
Do you also fish for Steelhead? We don't get many Steelhead reports on this site. I would love to see some if you do.

Awesome guys thanks for the responses. Every now and then I do get out on the rogue and fish steelhead but not too much. I live a stones throw away from lake selmac (can leave my house and get in the water in 10 minutes. It's a really good lake for bass and blue gill. Applegate lake is a blast too and on of my favorites. Depending on the conditions I'd like to hit brookings this next weekend or mob up the middle of next week sometime and do some fishing. I also dive out of my kayak and spear fish out of coos bay at pier #7 if there is anyone that does that too.
