Hey folks, anyone from the Seattle WA area? I did a long motorcycle trip a few years back with a friend to visit his dad up north and we rode and took a ferry to Whidbey Island to ride up through Deception Pass.

Anyone have experience fishing this area? The water looked great all over the island and looks like it would be prime ling and rockfish territory.

Nice place. I would not mind fishing there sometime.

You're kidding, right?   :smt003

John,  check out the Washington Kayak Fishing forum here at NCKA.  I spend more than half my time in Seattle and we have a number of trips in the works including a Deception Pass trip in mid May.  Come fish with us!

Man, i wish i could get up there to fish. I know a couple of guys who spear up there and they say its great and now i know you folks are up there! pretty neat place i must say.

I have a video of some guys diving the san juan islands as well and it looks so nice.

Can you folks fish year round for bottom fish there?

Fishing in the San Juans is tough these days.  Lings are only open for 6 weeks in the spring, hence the May trip.  The rockfish limit is only 1.  For lings and rockfish, we head further out, like to the Olympic Penisula, or this year I plan on spending more time up on Vancouver Island.  See the trip we have planned in about a month.
