Two trips in one day! Thanks for the invite to ARW. HMB is my favorite place, fishing or not. Big rock boil; is that the rock that shows its head at low tide in the bouyed off section?

It doesn't get any more clearer than that! Thanks.

I use shelf track with 2x4 extensions.  Works great and cheap...

That is more like what I had in mind, but on the side of the house; covered of course. Which ever one I use I will need some of that "inspiration" :smt002

Where in monterey is that?

No, but I did find out that my wifes shoulder injury won't allow her to paddle much at all. So I'll probably end up getting a Hobbie within the next year. The hard part is trying to figure out which ones to take on camping trips.

Looking for some pics of home made storage racks , at home, for yaks. I have an idea, but know there are a lot of folks with more talent and experience than I.

SWEET! Must be nice to be able to leave your seats and some of the other gear on.

I'm not sure about all factory racks, but many are very flimsy; be carefull and use a safety lanyard.

Here's the other two yaks! I made the rack to fit both trucks in the back ground of the pics; it doesn't budge. If anybody knows, I was wondering if I moved the other two over if the cross bars could handle another set of J racks?

I had a honda civic with a yakima rack system for a prowler 13 and scupper pro.  It worked well except for that one time.....driving back from Idaho I had the front towers pull from the window ledges, tear up the molding and the kayaks went flying up.  Fortunately got off the road before I lost anything, but it did do some damage to the roof.  I would go with something that had a factory roof.  A good way to go is the pontiac vibe.  Good mileage and cheaper than the matrix.

Jim

Another plus for the Vibe; its made right here in Fremont CA :smt002
Here is a pic of the Yak rack I picked up on C/L. I couldn't get the towers for my Focus so I made do with my truck! The first two are Scramblers.

Thinking of going for halibut in the bay. Never tried it before so not sure where to launch. I have lauched and fished a lot in my old 19 foot C/C, just not in a yak. Anybody else going to be out there, or have some pointers? The rock wall seems like a good location, but not sure how the fishing has been over there, or maybe Oyster Point.

It was great to meat you as well. I have never fished the area before, so I stayed close by til the fog broke. Of course that means fishing in the wind. I ended up buying choives from the wharf; .25 each. We fished just short of O'neils for a grand total of ZERO. Its only my third time in the ocean in a yak. All in all it a was great day on the water.
