I've been in contact with the organizers of the Bay Area Paddlefest which is NorCal's largest annual paddling expo.  This year, kayak fishing is going to be a major theme of the event.  We're hoping to have a section of the expo dedicated to kayak fishing with booths, fishing seminars, lots of demo boats, and a derby on Saturday, September 30, 2006.  NCKA will play a major role in organizing the fishing derby.

I know it's early, but if you interested in participating or volunteering please let me know.

Paddlefest Recognized the potential of kayakfishing a few years ago . When they let Alan Bushnell and I as well as Mark Pierpoint do the first kayakfishing seminars at a paddling event on the west coast (I think) Back then people thought yakfishing was just a fad. Beth and the rest of the good folk at paddlefest have been more than receptive of our sport. This event very well could be the biggest kayayfishing event on the westcoast ever.
Why Do I paddle a kayak instead of a float tube or a pontoon boat? I like seeing where I'm going not where I've been!
Paddle safe and wrap'em tight.
