Maybe 10 years ago, there was a guy who had a tent on his Hobie Cat just off the beach with the big concrete seawall west of the Hook in Capitola. The rig was there for a month or more, and I saw him on it several times, I don't know if he ever spent the night, though I presume he did. I guess it's safer than sleeping in the usual homeless areas.

The Boom Tent!
We had one of those for the Hobie Cat 16 my family had when I was growing up. Super cool idea, but man what a PITA: you had to take down the mainsail to get it pitched, and any little breeze that went underneath the trampoline chilled you to the core unless you had good thermal protection underneath (which we didn't, of course).
