Hey, I recently watched a YouTube vid about a modification made to a brand new Stealth.  The OP used Plasti-Dip to paint a fluoro band on his otherwise all white hull, and this got me wondering if the Plasti-Dip would stick to the more common plastic hulls.  Any thoughts on this?

I've plasti-dipped both painted metal and plastic parts on my FJ Cruiser. They have held up to all kinds of mayhem.  It seems stick to anything. Cool idea.

How tough is that stuff? I have a hard time seeing it holding if the it's dragged over sand with a heavy kayak on top. But, I could see some uses for it on the topside of my kayaks...
Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away...

Yep, this is my concern because I want to add anti-GSW stripes to my hull.  The dreaded sand drag could spell doom for my sexy sea snake stripes....  And then there's the risk of slowing my Revo-16 down!

Scurvy,
I have used plasti-dip, it won't stand a chance on the bottom to protect the kayak.

I'm not trying to protect the hull, I'm just trying to get black snake stripes going as a visual deterrent.  I'm aware of the very good JBWeld trick and will be putting it to use once my hull gets a bit more abrasions to help the JBWeld bond.

Plasti-dip definitely won't hold up to much abrasion.  I haven't removed any yet, but it is supposed to peel off when pulled from an edge. I like the idea of it as a graphic though. It would be easy to tell who was from a distance. My old eyes need all the help they can get.

It seems like a good idea, but so far it hasn't proved fully effective, at least at Frijole.

Get a Shark Shield.

This. Don't waste your time painting the bottom of the yak, as it'll be invisible from a shark's perspective.
