Never had a FF before so no idea what good is myself lol.   My definition of good was is there a better unit out there at that good of price.   And from the feedback i think this is a good unit a good choice and a good deal.

I agree. Its a good enough deal that I may purchase one instead of the hook 5 for my Radar. Who is the deal through?

I have the battery linked below, which I picked up from Bass Pro.  I've used it for HOURS on end and it hasn't died on me yet (except for when I forgot to charge it before I left)...Even then, it lasted for a solid 8 hours.

Note: I have this powering my Hook 4, can't go wrong with the fishfinder.  It's my first and is pretty user friendly.

It does not come with a charger.  I bought this charger from BPS as well - small and works well!

Also - the Hook 4 wires don't have connectors on the end so I bought a pack from Harbor Freight and they work like a charm - easy to slip on/off the battery terminals, but snug enough to not come off while fishing.

Right on... good deals are hard to pass up. Saving some dollars means we can spend it on some more fishing gear :)

Cal, I have the same unit.  It rocks on the yak. You can buy 12v 7.5Ah batteries at Home Depot in the lighting department for sub $25.  They will last days on the water for that unit.

I don't fish for salmon much, but am on CFW, Folsom, and the delta a bit.  The Port should be turning on here in a few weeks too.
