On a recent trip I was peddling all dumb and happy and glad to be on the water.  All of a sudden my seat tipped to the side and I felt like a low rider.  It was very uncomfortable and I thought I had snapped the seat in half.  But after getting it to shore (after a full day of diving) I realized one of the big screws had backed out and caused the partial collapse.  I found the screw under the seat and it wasn't striped so it just backed out over time.  I checked all the other screws and many were loose.

Thought I would bring it up as one more maintenance thing to be aware of for the hobies.

I need to do that.  Unless it interferes with replacement of mesh or other parts that can break.

Just make sure you use the blue one.  I use that stuff on any screw or nut that has a habit of backing out from normal use of an item.  You can still break the bond and take it apart with hand tools.

Just don't use the red one.

That's good to know.  I remember reading you need to heat to 500 degrees to break the bond.  Didn't remember which one though.

Thanks for the solution, and DG, thanks for alerting us to it.  I'm headed to the garage now to check my LooseScrews.

... 2 minutes later: Sure enough, the screws were loose, one side more than the other!
